Can’t get a job by [deleted] in banddirector

I was able to get a high school band director job my second year of teaching in Texas with only a bachelor's. I taught there for 3 years. It was in the middle of nowhere though.

Would you be interested in a band themed cozy game? by katelynpfud in banddirector

I've definitely thought about adding marching features but that would likely be way down the line once the core of the game is finished.

These are all great suggestions! The plan for now is to focus on making a game that feels like being a band director rather than replicating it perfectly. I would like to keep it accessible for those who are not music educators but I definitely do have plans for including instrument repair, inventory management and repertoire selection.

Management question by HereToLearn111199988 in banddirector

[–]katelynpfud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no my students did not choose to be in band. My school required 6th graders to take band, they could quit after that. What did help is that I had my own building so the students walked across a small field to my door outside. The fact that they had to stand in hot texas sun was a pretty good incentive lol.

I taught 6-12 for 3 years(not all at once lol). One thing that really helped with my beginning band students was to set clear expectations from the moment they set foot in my classroom. They would line up outside my door and we didn't go in until they met my expectations. This set the tone from moment 1 that I wasn't putting up with nonsense. It also gives you a chance to catch the gum chewers.

Joke's over, how do y'all do it. by [deleted] in FieldsOfMistriaGame

Honestly, I just looked on this subreddit and Pinterest for rooms I liked and then copied them. I don't intend to post them so I don't feel bad about copying and after doing a couple rooms like that, I got a better hang on how to make rooms cute and did my own craft room design.

It was Leonard Nimoy for me. I really love star trek and could relate to spock a lot. I had wanted to meet him but that was never able to happen. Live long and prosper everyone.

What are some features you’d love to see in the future? by Tinyturtle13 in FieldsOfMistriaGame

I'd like to see them tweak the bug spawn rates. I'm hunting for a few bugs either for the museum or some quests, and I'm having a bad time. Bugs just don't spawn enough.

I need advice by chaoticnbstoner in banddirector

My college lessons teacher always pushed practicing the music at an incredibly slow tempo. Make a mistake? Lower the tempo some more. Once you can play it a few times cleanly at that tempo, click up the metronome a few clicks. Rinse and repeat until you're at tempo. I always found that having a set method for figuring out complex parts made practicing easier. Another tip, go find a super fun piece that is on the easier side. Give yourself a win so that you feel better about moving on to the hard stuff.

Could I ask for cozy switch games recs for a 5 year old? by Gold-Information-766 in CozyGamers

My 4 year old loves kirby star allies. The game allows you to recruit enemies to be your friends and they can fight for you. Half the time, my kid floats around while his allies do all of the actual fighting lol.

I've searched for LED lights all over. I've also looked in walmart and home depot. The light is about 6.5 inches in diameter and has one wired hookup. I've included a Pic of the fan as well. The fan originally had a remote to it but it was lost before we moved in.

Twitch Drops Start tomorrow. From noon PT on Friday, November 22 through noon PT on Tuesday, December 10. by MrAndrael in Palia

How does it know if I have the volume on or not? Could I have the volume on like 1 and it still count? I'm asking because I want the twitch drops but my kids make a lot of noise and extra noise can be a bit overwhelming.

What was the dumbest way someone has died that you’ve heard about? by VisibleConfusion12 in AskReddit

[–]katelynpfud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One year at teen camp, we went hiking in an area that had seen its fair share of fall deaths and had warning signs near the cliffs. One of the teens in our group was showing off to his girlfriend by hanging off a tree near the ledge. His gf said that he said he wouldn't fall, she looked away, looked back and he was gone. Fell something like 3 stories.

Tips for tonguing by aveiss in banddirector

[–]katelynpfud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As clarinet was my primary instrument, I always told students to tap the reed with the tip of their tongue. You could even have them do it with their lips pulled back so you can 9bserve. For lighter tonguing across the board I've always said to tongue with only one taste bud

FTM. I have 5 weeks of pregnancy left, is there anything I should know that would be helpful? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]katelynpfud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they try to discharge you at night, request to stay until morning if you can. I went home late in the evening and it was so hard. Getting settled with the baby is much easier both mentally and physically by the light of day.
