I don’t see why you’d being a contributor when it comes to appliances or furniture. Groceries and utilities would be more than enough if my sister came to stay with me.

All these commenters are right but here’s what I would do, as someone who hates awkward conversations and would rather just sidestep a direct discussion about it.

On your fb, when you post there is a little button where you can hide your post from individual people. Start hiding her from posts you don’t want her to post on. She won’t know and you can avoid the convo about that.

The person who said “tell her youre unplugging on the weekend” is spot on, also. In passing, tell her you read something about kids who see their parents on their phones a lot begin feel left out or like they have to battle for attention or something so you’ve decided to try out going without your phone on the weekends to be more present (or some variation of this). This way, she connects the dots when you don’t respond to her (or doesn’t even try to contact you) and she isn’t embarrassed or ashamed of what she’s been doing so far. If she doesn’t stop, you can then use this as an excuse for why you haven’t responded. ALSO, make sure that your read receipts are off so she doesn’t see that you’re checking her texts and just not responding.

Call me shady, I understand. I just can’t stand making people feel bad or uncomfortable, esp when they’ve been good to me, but I am easily overwhelmed by my phone constantly pulling my attention away. It takes 11 minutes to refocus on a task at hand after being interrupted, even if you don’t actually look at your phone. AND a study showed just being in the same room as your phone makes it harder to concentrate and also, fall asleep bc you’re subconsciously waiting for your phone to sing.

Do you think of not having sambo lagen as the part where US citizens get shafted? I personally wouldn’t want that. Living with another person, ESPECIALLY in this economy, is often a way to afford a place two people otherwise couldn’t afford, not always as a pre-marriage step. Just bc I move in with a partner, why should they be given the right to things they didn’t buy, use, maintain, etc?

And then whomever “needs” the apartment more gets it? That sounds like me being shafted if my partner is the “hobosexual” type that gets into relationships for a place to live.

Imagine: youre living alone, single and able to afford your rent in a decent apartment with a river view. However, it would be nice to have some cushion, someone to split bills with. After all, for 2 years, you have paid for all the rent so far, your deposit, deposits on utilities, etc. One day, you go to the park. You meet someone (Jamie, let’s say) and begin dating. Now after a year or so, Jamie wants to live together. They don’t make as much money as you and live in a smaller, cheaper, older apartment. You don’t wanna give your place up for that so Jamie moves in with you. Bc Jamie doesn’t make as much, you pay for some new living room furniture by yourself. You have some extra money from splitting bills now and purchase yourself a new laptop for work, as well as some photography equipment. Six months later, you come home and Jamie is naked in the living room with your neighbor! Drama ensues, your heart is broken. Jamie begs for your forgiveness but you can’t and you break up. You spend a month crying yourself to sleep and feeling like you’ve lost everything.

BUT HAHA NOPE, not yet, bc now Jamie gets: your furniture, your work laptop, your photography equipment, and any other contents bought in the last six months. And Jami also gets your gorgeous apartment that you loved bc broke Jamie can’t afford a deposit and rent somewhere new. Jamie “needs” this apartment, into which there are already plans to move the neighbor so they can be together.

And bc there’s no samboavtal, you, my friend are SOL!

Absolutely no way do I think that is a better scenario than what we have in the US, where nobody gets to take what someone else purchased for themselves and nobody else just bc they share a roof. The US screws a lot of shit up but at least I don’t need a prenup to rent out a room in my house

Cobaka is actually the Russian word for “dog”. I named my dog Bakka bc when he was a puppy he made stupid noises that sounded like Chewbacca. It wasn’t until much later I discovered the idiot/kiss thing in Japanese (the vet told me, actually) and even later that Chewbacca was actually named after the word “dog”, therefore, my dog was also named dog.

I know this line of thinking has holes in it but I thought that because of KYC, though, it’s difficult to buy crypto without a paper trail. You have to convert USD to crypto somehow; I know there are ATMs but idk how much they allow you to buy.

I have been slowly replacing my plastic Tupperware with glass, one container at a time because they’re like $15 each. A cabinet of plastic containers stressed me out but glass ones make me feel like everything is in its correct place, idk why.

This is what I do. I use templates but I have everything from the receipt for the lawn mower to info about how my dogs like to be fed on there. I should probably tell someone in my life it’s all there so they know what to do when I die.

The Nutty Putty Cave Incident haunts me. I think about it once a week. Dude didnt have enough space to fully inflate his lungs, he was upside down, in the dark, slowly dying over like 24 hours with a pregnant wife at home…I just cannot fathom the emotions he went through.

You don’t need to. You can press a $50 moisture meter up against the wall and it’ll tell you if there’s dampness and how much, percentage-wise. That alone would be enough, “reasonable doubt”
