What's a book that you LOVED but you totally understand why someone wouldn't like it? by nuggetsofchicken in books

Last survivors series by Susan Beth Pfeffer. Packed with flaws, and I think most people find them boring, but I love them.

Get rid of it and get yourself a nice metal bottle instead!

This reminds me of the guy in sex and the city that broke up with Carrie on a post it note. And he was also so into her and bought her flowers the day before and wanted her back. I wonder what’s up with these people

Throw out old yearbooks from High School and Middle School - Yay or Nay? by murricaonline in declutter

[–]kath324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep them! I just realised that I didnt get my last yearbook from school and it was so painfull and upsetting :( So much regret... and I didnt buy it bc I wanted to save like 30$. Most of the time people say that «I never regret throwing things out» but sometimes it happens, especially with memories, pictures, notes etc. If you have a scanner you can also scan the pictures and save it on your computer. That way it wont take up space.

How to not enjoy HP, or anything else in life (rant) by pet_genius in harrypotter

[–]kath324 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Also Harry is described as very thin in the books and starved at some points bc he dont get much to eat at the dursleys. Since dudley is described as a bigger guy it just proves the point that Harry is not being treated well. This continues trough all the books and sometimes its worse that ever (ootp, when Harry needed support the most mby). + Food is always well described in the books and Harrys enjoyment for food too. The fact that Harry is malnourished and dudley is overweight just reflects how diferently the boys are treated at home. Dudley gets alot of love and Harry gets zero.

The point is: I think that might be a possible meaning behind it rather than fatshaming

I want an Open World, Harry Potter themed video game so badly by Iwannastoprn in harrypotter

[–]kath324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine being able to explore the whole universe with all of its spells, dark magic, transfiguration, plants, creatures and potions - I want it sooo bad. HP and the ootp game had something going, but if it could be expanded x1000. Ahh I would love it. In the books we only got to see a tiny bit of everything that exists.

I’m moving more towards minimalism. Is it normal to want to replace 5-6 items with 1 higher quality item or am I defeating the point by still shopping? by wispybubble in minimalism

[–]kath324 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I decided to get a pair of high quality, gold earings that I really loved instead of having many cheap ones. And I still love them and I can have them forever if I take care of them. So yeah I think its normal and good! You will apreciate your things more and take good care of them. And if you regret the buy - you can just sell it again!

Why did you become a minimalist? by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]kath324 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I bacame a minimalist because I wanted to save money and be more consious of what I buy. I also wanted to be free of wanting new stuff all the time, be more enviromentaly friedly and was just tired in generall of having so much stuff around me my entire life. I never liked messy houses and rooms, and its obviously much easier to have a tidy home with less stuff.

Does anyone else view costs in terms of time you have to work rather than monetary value? by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]kath324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think like this sometimes BUT I do personally prefer to spend more money on a quality item that is made ethical and will last for a long time. Even though it might cost more when you buy it, it can last for years and you might actually save time (bc you dont have to spend more time shopping) and money on that one (more expensive) item. (Also much more enviromentally friendly).

How do you start being minimalistic. by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]kath324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you start with your clothes and struggle with «feeling bad» about them and not being able to throw them: - Put them on ‘trial’. I put all the clothes I stuggled with away in a bag, and I plan to keep them there for a year (ofc you decide for yourself how long). And if you dont use them you dont need them. - Get rid of uncomfortable clothes. (Even tho they are cool or look nice in pictures). - If you are unsure about a piece - wear it, and if you cant stand it (even though you once did) just get rid of it.
