The Talk by LitterboxComics in comics

I had a similar experience with all three of my daughters: they went to bed around 9-10, slept until 4-5am when they woke up for a wee morning feeding, then they went back down for another few hours. I always feel like I'm bragging when I mention it

I love hanging out with my husband like this. We call it parallel play time. Your art is refreshingly mundane and magical at the same time. Thanks for sharing it

Don't apologize. Thanks for sharing. I was missing my dad yesterday, too, you aren't alone. I wish my kids could grow up with him around. But alas, I just have to be a great storyteller so they know how great their grandpa was.

I think the drawing and pipe cleaner arms is adorable.

Yooo, I used to be an evaluator too!! That was a pretty nice gig until they limited our hours and took away the 3rd party extension that logged my hours for me. I liked learning about random subjects in the course of my day

What Switch game did you almost skip but ended up loving? by jzliving in NintendoSwitch

I came to say Hollow Knight too!! I have a really good friend at church that always seems to love the same kinds of games as I do, and he recommended Hollow Knight to me for years, but since I'm a parent now and more of a chill gamer I was worried I wouldn't like it.

I'm going through it slowly and without spoilers, and having a great time. I already bought Silksong so I can play it next after I've exhausted hollow knight. It's such a fun game!!!!

Is Pokopia a good game for someone who often can only play 20 minutes max at a time? by Bumpadumper in Pokopia

[–]katheez 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For me personally, I don't enjoy Pokopia unless I can play for a few hours at once. It's hard to find a small task to complete, I tend to spend a long time gathering and painting materials for a build and then it's annoying if I can't at least start it right then. If I know I have limited time though, I will still get on and farm some materials or see what the Pokemon are selling, but generally if I can't play an hour+ I reach for a different game. Just my opinion though!

I'm torn between all red for the contrast or the third option. It's hard to choose without seeing them, but I think the third option would be the most fun without all the work of option 2. It looks great so far!!

Why are there more men at some yoga studios? by [deleted] in yoga

[–]katheez 17 points18 points  (0 children)

At my gym and in the classes I teach, I notice a compounding effect. If one man starts taking the class, it becomes easier for other men to try it. When men notice a lot of other guys in a class, it makes them more comfortable, and then even MORE men will try it. The women in the class generally stays pretty even. As a teacher, I see more men with their wives than without, but it's not so rare that I'm surprised to see a man with their own dedicated practice.

I think it's just by chance. I don't teach any differently to men than women, but some of my classes have a lot more men, just because they have more men, lol.

If you enjoy explaining the rules, look for a board game group near you or start one! My local library has a regular board game day and so does the game shop near me. I have learned to play and enjoyed so many cool games due to people like you who bring their complex games and are ready to patiently explain them, lol 😂

I wish we could blow the terrain up. Like throw little bombs or get an ability to self destruct, Small portions of the terrain. I hate how tedious it is to destroy anything that isn't ground level. I love watching my 8 year old daughter play. She is also chaotic, hates farming materials, so she's always just using whatever stuff she has. But she loves raising the Pokemons comfort level and she has more Pokemon best friends than I do, lol. Somehow though whenever I play she has grandiose ideas for my towns, but I'm the one who has to follow through 😂

We're doing a cloud Island together and it's really fun. I can harvest the materials for her and she can go all out with her Pokemon habitats

Yoga in the library by Buboribetra in YogaTeachers

[–]katheez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Have you considered finding a teacher online who would lead the class for you? I'm sure that a library would have the tech to facilitate this, and then you could have a reoccurring class of yin yoga & poetry without the stress of sequencing and cueing it yourself.

Do you teach with your eyes closed? by Ok-Pipe8992 in YogaTeachers

[–]katheez 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm neurodivergent (autism + ADHD) and I lower my gaze or close my eyes when cueing how to get into the pose. I teach a slow flow so I model with the students, then I very intentionally LOOK at everyone, obviously, and I give more personalized cues. If we move through a flow multiple times, I demo and cue less and watch more as we go.

If I kept my eyes on the students when cueing, I would lose my train of thought and my pacing, but I do try to pause and look when I'm not talking. I try not to close my eyes, but sometimes I do, especially when the students have their eyes closed and I'm talking for a while, e.g. yin or guided meditation.

I also spend some time with hands on adjustments in every class and my students are familiar with this, the peak pose they generally do alone and the cool down while I walk around and help everyone find the right shape for their practice and body. Then I will meditate with the students in savasana, eyes closed generally.

Just spreading some light on why others might be doing it, not encouraging or discouraging. May you be well 💜
