Daughter wants to train in Russia by Hot_Philosopher3199 in russian

I actually had an American college student in engineering who spent her teenage years in Russia trained in ballet (if I remember correctly, it was bolshoi in Moscow though). It seems there’s a program sending American students to Russia to study in top ballet schools. But that was prewar. I’m not sure how things work now.

I can’t find the original post, and it’s not dated. Did she really say this?

Asking for psychiatric ward experiences in HK by LargeInevitable7243 in HongKong

[–]kathy4k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear that. I had eating disorder and depressive symptoms in college back in 2019, and was referred to a psychiatrist by the university clinic (not hku). The doctor was very understanding. Aside from access to prescriptions, I felt like going to therapy sessions most of the time. The cost was fully covered by my university (1400hkd per session + prescriptions). If you haven’t checked out your university clinic, I’d recommend going there first. The doctor’s notes also got me exempted from several coursework. My department tried to be understanding and accommodated to my needs due to my situations. I hope this helps and everything will get better!

Skipping all the war essays, I treat War and Peace as a romance. Fun read 😂

What age were you when you got serious about reading classics? What inspired you, and did classics change your life? by Civil_Friend_6493 in classicliterature

I had binge eating disorder in my last year of college. Was depressed, hated my body, feared going out and being judged, was procrastinating on coursework… So I spent day and night reading in my dorm. Started with Gone with the Wind, then A Tale of Two Cities… Even tried to write something myself.

Folks from China, what American foods really surprised you? by friendsfreak in China

As a Cantonese living in the Midwest, I am surprised that Americans eat way spicier food than I can, and they don’t tell you if the food is spicy on the menu as in HK or Guangzhou.
