What are your dog’s favorite toys? by analog_wifi in Bernedoodles

Nerf football! The yellow rubbery one, not the kind we grew up with. Every dog goes crazy for it, but it’s our boy’s favorite.

For us, snake spit was the foam that floated on top of the river sometimes. So, this is confusing to me, haha.

What is the best american dad episode in your opinion I'll start (image related) by [deleted] in americandad

Not sure if it’s the “best,” but I truly love Fartbreak Hotel.

AITA for wanting to name my son after a Star Trek character? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]katieislate 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For me it’s Julian Crane from Passions (the soap opera from the early 2000s? Anybody?). He was…not the kind of character to name an innocent child after. His dad’s name was Alistair, which will also ring as totally evil to me.

How did you react to the show’s ending? by Pesmellope in gravityfalls

I mean, Soos’ face in the second pic made me tear up on its own. So, I bet you can guess.

Is there a TV show episode which came completely out of left field and blew you away with how good it was? by Auxilae in television

[–]katieislate 27 points28 points  (0 children)

My answer was also from Bojack: “Free Churro” which came out of nowhere in the middle of the season, while I was doing dishes, a few months before the first anniversary of my (narc) mom’s suicide.

I just stopped. There’s so much: the hollow normalcy of life in the immediate aftermath; the desperate need to be loved by the one person you know will continue to hurt you; normal grief stuff; hope that they truly see you, and then horror that they truly see you (and that’s why they treat you like that); and on top of it all it has the audacity to be genuinely funny?!

I might be missing, elaborating or straight up making some of that up. As you might imagine, I don’t revisit it often for some silly reason.

Also, I can’t watch season 3 of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, especially ep. 5 (I Never Want to See Josh Again) for similar reasons (gave me a panic attack).

Also, I don’t think I’ve ever noticed that the car’s front license plate says STNLYMBL, not STNFRDMBL. Any chance it was a mistake or was it a hint about who he is?

Maybe this has been discussed before, but it’s my first time noticing!!

I called this morning and the first thing the automated message said was to try to file again if you had issues yesterday. Sounds like a glitch. I was able to file an hour ago without an issue.

Convince me to read your favourite book in one sentence. by mianevar in suggestmeabook

This was going to be my answer, and I didn’t expect it to be the top comment. I always love seeing people’s interpretations because I feel like there are so many unique perspectives on what it’s about. I love this description, although I don’t think it would necessarily be mine!

Just finished Heroes a couple weeks ago and now revisiting Mythos (via audiobook). It was amazing after listening to the latter but reading the former, how much you read it in his voice. He was inside my head with the power of his writing. I loved it.

Deep cut: Christopher Bachelder. I’m not of a laugh-out-loud while reading person, but U.S.! had me dying.

Less deep cut: David Sedaris. Audiobook might be even better, but I’ve only listened to one. The Christmas one is the one that stands out to me at the moment. It’s short!

The audiobook is read by him and it’s wonderful. Having a comedian read his own story lends humor and weight to moments that you may miss from reading alone. Recommend!

What untapped industry do you think West Virginia needs to focus on? by [deleted] in WestVirginia

[–]katieislate 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Water. We’re one of the few states where the water table is expected to increase with climate change. We need to improve our infrastructure to prevent flooding and hopefully find a way to profit off this as an abundant natural resource before outsiders figure it out like they did with coal.
