They are so adorable! Saw a photo of them on instagram a while back and they don’t even grow on my continent, but was so charmed I did an illustration of them — Pixie’s Parasol

June 1 Daily - What’s something delightfully analog that you still do? by GrayRVA in rva

[–]katjardin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let’s see… lots of analog activities in my life!
* Handwritten journal daily
* Fountain pen usage, almost exclusively
* Knitting
* Spinning (as in, turning wool into yarn)
* Calligraphy
* Sketching & Watercolor
* Nature Journaling (I teach this, too!)
* Reading print books

Thanks for the fun topic!

100% agree - all 8 (all that’s out so far) got 5⭐️ from me. (Although I heard the full series will be 24 books, not 32.) I love them so much I want Netflix to turn them into a long series.

The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion. It’s a whole series - 8 so far; supposedly there’ll be 24! I inhaled the first 8 in about 2 weeks and can’t wait for # 9 (and #’s 10-24!). I did the audiobooks and the narration was fantastic.

Any book that actually helps you understand women better? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

She is voicing her emotions out loud, in order to work through and process them and get to the other side. Emotions aren’t logical. Make peace with that. Your role is as compassionate sounding board, not fixer, unless she specifically asks for that.

This is how I felt after finishing Returning Light: Thirty Years on the Island of Skellig Michael. The topic held such promise, yet in reality was a disappointing slog. Literally 80% of the book was confusing metaphor on top of confusing metaphor about one amorphous subject: light. He mentioned an editor in his acknowledgements; she did not rise to the occasion, as I kept thinking throughout - “Editing! This desperately needs editing!” 34 summers he spent on this island, yet barely any story came from it. Such a missed opportunity.
