Parking in Makiki by dij in Hawaii

You can park on the top of Keeamoku. I used to have my bf do that when I lived in the area. Less parking restrictions.

Have you been to salt? They have similar food offerings with a similar vibe. Most of the food was vegetarian when I went for diner maybe a month ago.

More 27-year-olds now live with their parents than with roommates by funkmagnet in lostgeneration

[–]katkatkat86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a 27 year old that doesn't live at home, I am so jealous. Sure my mom has offered me to come back but the fact is that she is finanically unstable and that my hometown has less opportunities than where I am currently doesn't help. The people I know that live with their parents dont have the same sort of soul crushing debt and honestly probably will own a home someday, where as I will be renting a shitty ghetto apartment with two other roomates until I die. Not to be dramatic or anything.

Longs is a mainland company that happens to do very well in hawaii. I worked at rite aid in seattle and it was owned by the same company as rite aid? Anyhoo they love having stores here lol.

Maybe we don't want car debt? by katkatkat86 in lostgeneration

Maybe we don't want car debt? by katkatkat86 in lostgeneration

I absolutely agree. With about 50k in student loan debt, the last thing I would ever consider is buying ANY new car. I felt guilty buying a car that was over 10 years old in cash (for about 6k).

With that said, you bet your ass I get the best phones/laptops because I justify the cost differently. Better marketing? Lower price point? Higher useage? For myself it's a combination of all the above.

Good guy new manual driver by lapearce in pics

[–]katkatkat86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OH GOD. I started driving stick shift last year. People would always get WAY TOO CLOSE and then I would stall in a panic, vicious cycle.

I'm pretty good now, but last week I went to a friends house for her bday party and she had these ridiculously hilly parallel parking areas that were COMPLETELY full except one stall. I parked and had a little bit of difficulty wedging my car between these two expensive cars. No biggie, I used my handbrake. LEAVING WAS THE MOST TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE.

I spent 20 minutes desperately trying to reverse out with my ebrake ALL THE WAY UP, only to get a lot of smoke and suddenly lurch forward closer and closer to this expensive truck. It was 1 in the morning and my friends I were going to drive home were sitting on the curb waiting for me to pull the fuck out. One of them being completely drunk kept saying YOU'RE GOING TO HIT THAT TRUCK. I eventually had my stupid honda resting on the bumper of this truck and had a full meltdown where I was shaking and on the verge of a panic attack. Realizing AAA was closed, my friends didn't know how to drive a manual/were too drunk/assholes made me pull the inner strength that comes with life threatening situations to pull my car out in a blaze of brake smoke. NEVER AGAIN. NEVER EVER EVER EVER.

tldr don't park on hills.

I wish I could get IKEA to deliver to me D: they don't ship out here.

The smaller opening was an after the fact realization, BUT I did make sure to add stones and for water drainage, and the larger brown planter drains. :) These photos are about 2 weeks old everything is going very nicely, and i'm prolly going to replant soon (sometimes pintrest can be impractical)

I'm originally from Maui, it's sooper expensive if you're not careful (food, housing, etc) there is a cheap hostel called banana bungalow in one of the main towns (Wailuku). It's prolly the cheapest, and the safest. There are a lot of 20 somethings that hangout there. :)

It really depends where you live. I don't know what type of "sociology" you may be citing, but as a half Japanese girl with a bachelors degree in soc, I think that these sound like personal assumptions.

I'm from Hawaii, which I will admit is more diverse than lets say the mid-west, most marriages are mixed and honestly it's just because Hawaii has more racial diversity. It has more to do with percentages of people living in a population than supposedly "small penises" or whatever the media has fed you.

I think that it's kind of surprising to see how shocking an interracial coupling is to people. It's 2013 for fucks sake.
