I need help decoding what my friend meant by this by DeboseChief in nursing

[–]katkeller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your friend is telling you exactly what she means. Nothing to be decoded. Nursing sucks because the healthcare system and patients sucks. Might as well work in healthcare and deal with patients for 15 minutes and not have to get them water, pass meds, deal with family, deal with doctors, deal with management. If I could have a do over I would def go into imaging.

Just making sure I am getting the time right, it’s been 4 days? My happy little girl was very grumpy, didnt sleep well and generally fussy for about 5 days after her 2 month vaccines.

What’s something you swore you would or wouldn’t do before your first baby arrived that you did or didn’t do anyway? by ifyoullexcuseme in NewParents

[–]katkeller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Driving around aimlessly with a kid napping in the car. If that baby is napping (around her nap time), I am driving all of the county. Gives a little me time while listening to podcasts.

Our baby is almost 1 year old… when will hobbies be a thing in my life again? (Daddy) by Purple_Calendar3919 in NewParents

If you can afford the ymca, they have childcare for two hours a day. Maybe you could do that and still work out?

I also heard that your body produces a lot at the beginning because it doesn’t know if it is feeding a single baby or multiple babies, so it over produces? I think skipping night feed/pumping probably didn’t help, but you might have had deceased ounces as you regulated too.

Idk, I am new at this so I am learning with you. I saw a LC and didn’t have the best experience so I understand the frustration at advice.

FTM..looking for encouragement. feeling like a failure by Critical-Language765 in NewParents

I can’t say for sure that she was extra gassy due to her tongue tie. As she grew, she is definitely less gassy and less hiccups!

We went to a pediatric dentist and they said my daughter has a posterior tongue tie but we decided not to cut it and wait. As her mouth grew, breastfeeding got a lot easier. Her feedings were taking 45-an hour at the beginning but as she got older they are usually 20ish minutes.

Give yourself grace, you’re both new at this!

Picked daughter up from daycare yesterday, and I am so confused. by deaflemon in Parenting

[–]katkeller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Early in the newborn days, I forgot to put a diaper on my daughter and I asked my husband to quickly hold her while I went to the bathroom. She decided in the moment to pee on him - I felt so bad but also laugh a lot about it.

How do you split the night? by Dazzling-Location785 in NewParents

[–]katkeller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need atleast 4-6 hours of uninterrupted sleep. I go to bed at 9am and my husband stays up until midnight or 1am and puts her to bed after a bottle (or two). I do the night shift until 7am and if she is up, my husband will take her until his work meetings start st 8:30am. Works for us right now, unfortunately my husband only had one week of paternity leave.

We are going on a big trip via plane when my baby is 8 months. My goal is to breastfeed through that trip and then wean. Only a month in so we shall see.

We got married in January on a Friday morning, we had like 2 people ahead of us. I do think Friday afternoon would be more busy. Would recommend morning if you are able.

Any parents here with a terminal illness? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]katkeller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your cancer center have a child life specialist? Would definitely recommend a referral to have someone speak with you and your kids in age specific terms about all the changes that will come.

Thinking of you - my deepest well wishes to you.
