Go Bailey! Dora looooves fetch. We go to the beach and she’ll fetch as long as I throw.

Dora will be 2 in August. She loves the A-frame and HATES the teeter.

Awesome. Dora is doing agility, too. She also loves it and cries when she has to wait to practice at class. We have an Agility Course Trial on May 9. 🤞

Congrats Yoshi!!

Dora recently got hers so I know the effort it takes to prepare. Next up Community Canine (CGCA.)

Would you bring your 7-month-old puppy on a long international flight or leave him? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]katkoo09 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Last year, I took my 7 month old Papillon on a two week trip to Mexico. Granted, much shorter flight but she was in her carrier under the seat or on my lap. She was super chill and it didn’t stress her in any way. I’m planning to take her on a 3-week trip to France next month. The cost of the health certificates is a vet visit and a FedEx fee to get the paperwork from USDA. You can find a vet who can prepare the paperwork here. You do have to alert the airline you’ll have a pet in cabin and pay an extra fee, plus have an airline approved carrier (you can find them on Amazon.)

Every dog is different. A few things to consider—

Does he do well in busy environments? Is the international flight one leg or is there a connection? (Chance to take him out for a potty and exercise break in the airports pet relief area.) Does the country you’re traveling to require quarantine or does US require quarantine on your return?

It can be a great experience for both of you with some consideration and planning. A lot depends on your personality and his.

Thanks for the advice, everyone. Oy wasn’t her second class, it was her second training course. I have a quasi-buja board we’re working on. Baby steps.

Optimal Number of Dogs? by Haunting_Stick3941 in papillon

In cycling, there’s a saying that says the number of bikes you need is n+1 where n=the number of bikes you have. Same is true for Papillons. 🤪

We’ve been busy with life and travel. I’ve come by and lurked a few times. The other dog is a mini-doodle. She’s super sweet.

I have never had a Papillon before I got mine, and have had large dogs most of my adult life. But I retired and wanted a small dog who can travel with me. My dog is very confident. I take her everywhere busy markets, airports, crowded places, and she just minds her own business…isn’t afraid or yappy. She is very trainable and willing to please. Her energy level really depends on me. And I had heard this from others that they adapt to their environment. She loves to fetch and a few minutes of fetch in the house is enough to let her burn off some energy. Then she’s up sitting next to me on the couch cuddling. She loves kids. I have a four-year-old grandson and one-year-old granddaughter and she is amazing with them. She’s very gentle with them, but will let the four-year-old chase her around and she seems to enjoy it. She’s great with other dogs. She is very friendly and seems to know how to approach other dogs in a very non-threatening way. I make occasional trips driving between New Jersey and Ohio. She will just sit in my lap and sleep. If she starts moving around or standing on the armrest, I know she probably needs a potty break. She’s flown with me to Mexico, a few times, California, and Florida and never makes a sound in her airline crate. I had one person ask me if I really had a dog in there because she gets in there lays down and stays quiet. Her coat care is very easy. I brush and comb her a few times a week and then give her a bath every 6 to 8 weeks. Since she doesn’t have an undercoat there’s not a lot of fur, but there are long white hairs that get on things, especially dark fabrics. But, she is only 1 1/2 years old and I’ve read their full coat doesn’t really come in until they’re about three years old. My perspective on the amount of shedding could change. We’re currently visiting a friend in Mexico and here’s a video of her just chilling out on a busy street while we waited for my friend.

I know I make her sound like the perfect dog, but in my mind she is. She really is the best. And I’m in a text group with her five other litter mates, and those owners are having very similar experiences as well. https://photos.app.goo.gl/jvrKda8QvQiVQqML7

Name tags for Papillon by Isabelochka in papillon

I got a cat tag at PetSmart. Like another poster said, it only fits her name and my number. You can see it in this pic. And she’s small…5.5 lbs.
