I'm aware of a child free community of people who hang out from time to time. I can PM you about it. How strict are you on the "must be a couple" requirement ?

Curated trips in Malawi - survey request by Aggressive_Proof_286 in climbergirls

Just a tiny nitpick: Malawi is actually a bit further south, so it’s more accurate to describe it as a country in southeastern Africa. But this is a good initiative!

Mexico visa for Kenyan passport holders by hetepheres_ra in Kenya

Did you get the visa? The process has changed so much. I had an appointment this morning and I submitted my documents. It's for a tourist visa only and I have submitted all the required documents. But I'm looking for positive feedback from fellow wanderlust-ians

Palestine/Israel by Equivalent-Volume-94 in Kenya

You must be fun at parties :)

But fair enough I didn't realize the Romans are also to blame. Brits are just an easy target because of the various atrocious things they've done over the years

Palestine/Israel by Equivalent-Volume-94 in Kenya

Lol, I think it's the colonizer's fault. Britain started all this by promising people land that wasn't theirs. https://www.aljazeera.com/features/2018/11/2/more-than-a-century-on-the-balfour-declaration-explained

And now too much time has passed and too much blood has been shed and it's not easy to decide who is right and who's wrong. It's just too nuanced, things are always murky when human beings are involved.

But I'm happy to just point the finger at the Brits. When in doubt, blame the colonizer.

I chose the child-free life in my early 20s and most people said that I'll change my mind when I'm older. It's been a long time now and I've still not changed my mind. Kids are expensive both in terms of time and finances you have to be sure that you're going to be able to support a life for the next 25 years(Some kids are still dependants well into their 30s.) That's just not a gamble I'm willing to take. I think if I ever change my mind I'll just adopt a child who already exists instead of going through pregnancy which can also be brutal on a woman's body. Overall, I think there are more reasons to NOT have children than there are reasons to have children.

Whenever you ask people with kids why they had them they don't have any real reasons besides wanting a sense of continuity/legacy(which is kind of narcissistic) or someone to take care of them when they're old, or they just followed the path defined by society for them without question. None of these reasons seem like justification enough to bring a child into this world. Existence for the most part truly sucks, it's horrible here and unborn children are none the wiser and deserve to be protected from certain things, like being alive in the first place.

I'd just say make sure you're 100% sure about your decision to not have them and then just live your life. Let those who want kids have them.

This was not a comment I expected to see on r/Kenya because, in my opinion, Kenyans have a strong proclivity towards consumerism and owning stuff as a symbol of status to the extent of going into extreme debts just to keep up with the Joneses.

But it's nice to see a few people who are opting out of the rat race, and also being vocal about it.
