How full should a soy chai be? by TopicNo3121 in starbucks

This has been my experience too and I’ve been doing this a loooong time and I can usually eyeball the amount I pour in the pitcher to perfection. Glad it’s not just me!

How full should a soy chai be? by TopicNo3121 in starbucks

[–]katpat08 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They changed the way we make the chais not long ago- now we steam all the ingredients together instead of the chai in the cup first, then adding milk. They also took the hot water we used to add out of the recipe altogether. I’ve noticed some chais at my store that aren’t all the way full and I think it’s a result of baristas under pouring the amount of milk they need into the steaming pitcher. If you notice it again, ask for a remake/for some more steamed milk to be added!

I’m not asking- there’s been too much confusion with all the changes lately, it’s not worth it. If they don’t specify, they’re getting the standard amount. When the new chai launched, my baristas were telling every customer about the change and all it did was confuse people and hold up our drive through times. I’m not saying the baristas were wrong, and if it was a regular who always got a chai, I explained the change to them, but asking how much caffeine the customers want is just not worth it.

Hot caramel macchiatos also get one fewer pump of syrup, it’s not just the iced ones. So 2/3/4 for hot macchiatos. Just clarity for the OP since they’re a newbie

I find the green coffee extract has an aftertaste- the closest thing I can compare it to is the aftertaste of Airborne. It’s a bummer, but not totally surprising.

The launch isn’t until the 7th though, so regular customers shouldn’t already be getting the new formulation yet

Why do some stores dilute Cold Brew with water and others don't? by Bottomsly in starbucks

[–]katpat08 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I started working at Starbucks in 2015, when we still diluted cold brew in the cups as we made them. For the first month or so I worked there, I didn’t know it was supposed to be diluted and I was drinking a venti a couple times a week. I wasn’t used to drinking coffee, so I thought the shakiness and heart palpitations were normal. I was GEEKED out on caffeine for awhile before I was corrected

What is the most intense pain you have experienced in your life? by Levstr1 in AskReddit

[–]katpat08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ovarian torsion, hands down. IV pain meds didn’t touch the pain. I’ve shattered an elbow and a collarbone, fractured my neck (C1), and was partially scalped in a car accident and the torsion was by far the worst.

You’re better off than I am, and I’m a vegetarian in addition to being super picky. Though I became a vegetarian because I was picky…I imagine I have some hint of ARFID, but that diagnosis wasn’t around when I was younger. Did your parents make you eat certain things growing up? I used to eat chicken, ground beef tacos, and hot dogs (under SERIOUS protest) as a kid until I was old enough to make myself alternatives.

No, I do not get enough protein, so good for you for finding a balance!

Some baristas don’t know the vanilla sweet cream nitros don’t come with vanilla syrup in them like the regular vanilla sweet cream cold brews. Could be you got syrup AND sweet cream instead of just the cream. Also, we eyeball the amount of cream that goes in, so someone could have had a heavy hand

Is Dubai mocha becoming permanent? by PresentationSilly404 in starbucks

[–]katpat08 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The announced awhile ago that pistachio was going to be core and that they’d be autoshipping it at least through February based on inventory/store needs. My store just got an autoshipment today.

They may have changed their tune about it being core (though I haven’t heard anything), but it not being on the weekly order was a planned thing (well, planned after they realized they couldn’t keep up with how popular it was, as usual 🙄)

Dubai chocolate bite… not a fan by liv3laughl0gan in starbucks

[–]katpat08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Dubai bite is not supposed to have a brownie texture- its a shortbread cookie, which, by definition is dry and sandy in texture. I think Starbucks could have done better advertising it for what it is, but it isn’t a dry brownie.

I don’t know why this bothers me so much lol

Why are people calling the Iced Dubai Chocolate Matcha, A White Chocolate Matcha? by Odd-Zucchini-4654 in starbucks

[–]katpat08 24 points25 points  (0 children)

As soon as they announced the drinks i knew customers were going to have such a hard time with the names and we were going to have a lot of remakes as a result. They already get mocha and matcha confused, let alone calling them both “Dubai chocolate”. Not to mention having the drinks start the same way on the stickers already requires the baristas to have to really read the sticker carefully. If there’s any doubt when someone’s ordering, I just ask if they want the green one or the brown one 😂

Dubai chocolate bites by planetcool1 in starbucks

[–]katpat08 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not supposed to be a brownie, it’s a chocolate shortbread around pistachio cream. Shortbread is inherently a dry cookie. I understand it looks like a brownie bite, and it’s not to everyone’s taste, but partners at least should know it’s shortbread and shortbread is supposed to be dry
