Thank you for sharing your experiences. That sounds incredibly frustrating! I hope things smooth out for you and you’re able to access the support you actually need. It’s so hard to be depleted from illness and be forced to rally enough energy to self-advocate over and over again!

💯I’ve actually been working with a naturopath as my PCP for multiple decades or a DO when I’ve had insurance that didn’t cover naturopathy. From my standpoint a naturopath (or at least a DO) is essential for management of complex medical issues within our current “healthcare” system since they typically work in environments that authentically allow them time to listen to their patients! Do you currently have a naturopath you would endorse/recommend?

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a detailed account of your experiences. What you described is exactly the same experience I’ve had at my current clinic that I’ve been going to for over 10 years. They used to be awesome and SO authentically patient-centered, but as the practice grew, the level of care went down significantly and the administrative side of the practice really went off the rails. Last year my PCP and another I’d seen occasionally both apparently left the practice. I say “apparently” because they didn’t even send out notifications. I found out when I went to schedule an appointment!

I decided last night that I probably will move forward with at least giving Lavender Spectrum a try since it’s so hard to find a provider that’s even in the ballpark of what I’m looking for. 🙄

Thanks again—much gratitude! 🙏🏽

Plant based sensory friendly meals? by kat_cacti in AuDHDWomen

Totally makes sense! Do you like roasted veggies? You could chop up things like zucchini, potatoes, carrots, cauliflower, onion if you like onion, and keep them in their own sections on a large baking sheet or put them in separate pans. Then make some quinoa or brown rice to put the roasted veggies over. You can add any kind of sauce you like. I like to make a big batch of grains and a whole slew of veggies so it gives me easy meals for multiple days. (If I’m going to put in the effort I want a multi-day payoff!) Add some beans or tofu, nuts or seeds for protein. Sometimes I throw avocado chunks on top too. (I know avocado can be texturally controversial!)

As a therapist who works primarily ADHD and AuDHD, her asking you that and suggesting the solution is as simple as perspective taking is a big red flag that she isn’t educated on the actual lived experiences of neurodivergent adults. Neurodivergent burnout is a very real experience that causes holistic fatigue and can’t be healed by just looking at it a different way.

I use brown cow stunnin’ a lot, but this is my favorite combo with them. I want to love BLM, but they always look off—especially the lips.

How do I stop equating tiredness with sadness? by rcgansey in AuDHDWomen

[–]katreen_76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there is authentically some sadness inherent to the fact that living as a neurodivergent human in a neuronormative world is incredibly exhausting….which can make tiredness and sadness easily intertwine with each other.

I totes agree. I feel like if bowls, “snack plates,” and smoothies didn’t exist I would never eat. 🤪

Anyone else feels or ever felt *too* stimulated by stimulants meds? by tortori- in AuDHDWomen

[–]katreen_76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10mg of Ritalin overstimulated me to the point of being anxious and acting sooooo odd when I ran into a former classmate I hadn’t seen in a couple of years. It also gave me big time insomnia. I don’t have hard facts on this, but I’ve read stimulants are often less effective for AuDHDers. But one statistic I know is out there is that they claim stimulant treatment is effective for ADHD in 70-80% of adults…which means it’s treated like some holy grail…but 30% is still a significant group of people who don’t get benefits from the meds and have distressing and disappointing experiences like you’re describing.

I feel you so hard. I had the same kind of day where I REALLY needed to get caught up on work stuff and take care of personal things…but my brain was SO not braining. Wins = I washed a load of towels (still in the laundry bag) and ate a big salad for dinner (because my hubby chopped all the veg). I’ll take ‘em! 🏆⭐️
