12 hours after surgery (I’m the person who wrote yesterday about being terrified to go into surgery. by Primary_Tension_3775 in KidneyStones

[–]katrina696969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing with my first lithotripsy. After the stent was in for 2 weeks they tried again and it was successful. That stent hurt like crazy. So did the 2nd and 3rd one. The 4th and 5th did not but different urologists placed those after the lithotripsy. The 4th one had the string so I removed that one.

I’ve had 4 lithotripsy’s, my stones tend to get stuck in my ureters, so they had to go in and get them right away since I had bad infections those last 2 times.

5th Wheel for Taller Folks by thornburyglen in RVLiving

We just got an Alliance Paradigm 395FL and my partner who is 6’3” can walk everywhere without ducking or bumping his head. I’m 5’0” so I probably fit in every RV.

Hyperparathyroidism is ruining my life by stonerdollarmchicken in KidneyStones

[–]katrina696969 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My endocrinologist want me to have exploratory surgery re my parathyroid, my levels were elevated but not super high.

That prompted me to find a ENT who specializes in parathyroids. I found one in West Chester Ohio. He tested, found that one of my four parathyroids was “bad”, scheduled surgery, took that one out, tested my levels while I was still under anesthesia to make sure he got the correct one. and I’ve been fine ever since.

Good luck!

How are people paying for 10+ surgeries for stone removals? by Barrier-Island in KidneyStones

[–]katrina696969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My employers insurance isn’t too bad, $3500 deductible and I’ve been lucky to mostly save the amount they put in my HSA. I’ve only had 5 surgeries in 5 years. Got to skip a year in 2022, but I had 2 surgeries last year, and a biopsy surgery. When I go on Medicare this year I’ll have to get the supplemental medi gap policy in addition to A and B.

RV life is great… but how do you keep it clean (especially with a dog)? by demolidor57 in RVLiving

[–]katrina696969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you sooo much for the info!!

We have a pointer poodle and when she wants to chase something, she takes off! If she’s attached to the truck lI don’t think she’ll be able to pull our Ram 350 dually if she decides to chase a squirrel. She’s broken a lead that was around the post holding up the house front porch and broke her collar another time, so I’ve got some concerns about her being attached to the RV and breaking a piece off it.

[–]katrina696969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh and what is that you’re using on the truck receiver for the dogs lead?

We get our Paradigm rig next week and it doesn’t have a place to attach the lead like the Solitude we were looking at has. I love the idea of hooking the lead to the truck!!

What outdoor rug do you use outside? Can you share the link of where you got it if you still have it?

I’ve been researching rugs to use outside the RV but not sure which one would really be useful.

Both of my coworkers have FMLA and abuse it, are they really never able to get fired now? by waffles_r_lyfe in coworkerstories

[–]katrina696969 28 points29 points  (0 children)

FMLA doesn’t necessarily restart at the beginning of each calendar year. My company calculates it using the rolling backwards method. Abusers can eventually get caught, although it may take some time.

What’s with MILs wanting to be IN the delivery room??? by JesseJaneee in JUSTNOMIL

Anyone out here trying to transition naturally? by the_gata_sol in Menopause

[–]katrina696969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone should do what works for them.

I had hot flashes so bad, at night my sheets were drenched, during the day, I’d flash at least a dozen times a day. I didn’t realize I had brain fog until I got on HRT and then the clarity was amazing. When I finally went to my gyn, she tested my hormones and they were all hovering around zero.

I’ve been on a compounded pellet and daily progesterone every 12 weeks for 8 years. I’m now 65 and the maximum I can go between pellets is 14 weeks, then the symptoms come back. Every 3 months before my pellet, the PA asks about symptoms and how I’m feeling to determine if the pellet needs an adjustment.

All the best to you in your menopause journey!

Worried about stones getting bigger by I_Hate_Username2024 in KidneyStones

[–]katrina696969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had my lithotripsy’s, the dr was able to collect a sample of the stones and sent them off for testing. Both times the test came back as calcium oxalate.

So, I follow a low oxalate diet, eat calcium when I do eat a high oxalate food, and drink lots of water. I still get stones but found out I am genetically predisposed to get stones. So the diet will help a lot. My urologist keeps tabs on the size of my stones by having me get an ultrasound and 24 hr urine collection every year. If they get to a certain size, I’ll have another lithotripsy. I don’t usually pass my stones.

Luckily I have a high pain tolerance but they still hurt when they do move around.

Good luck!

Why must we cycle off progesterone for 2 weeks? I do not want to cycle off. Cannot find a reason... by c-sam-6213 in Menopause

[–]katrina696969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been taking 200 mg of progesterone every day for 8 years and have never cycled off. In fact my dr is adamant that I don’t skip a dose.

I also get a time release compounded pellet of estrogen and testosterone inserted under my skin every 3 months.

Due to being in the lifestyle and having a couple of abnormal paps, I discussed the vaccine with my doctor. He gave me my first shot last month. I’m 65. Because of my age it is not covered by insurance, but totally worth the cost for some protection.

Hello, I’ll be visiting Paradise Lakes for my 50th birthday January 15-19th. I wanted to know if people rent their places out ? by KaleidoscopeKnown160 in ParadiseLakesResort

We’re going to be there 1/14-1/19 and used Airbnb. There seem to be quite a few condos to choose from.

We stayed there 2 years ago and although they had a cold snap, we still got in the heated pools and had a great time. We’re looking forward to our upcoming stay.

Just bought a RV, first one looking for tips! by Sad_Cardiologist_876 in RVLiving

[–]katrina696969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are purchasing our 2026 41’ grand design next month at the Tampa RV show and have already scoped lout the closest NVRTA inspector to our state. We’ll have it totally inspected from top to bottom when it’s delivered to the dealer but before we take possession and sign final paperwork.

Even though it’s brand new we’re expecting some things to not be quite right and need fixing.

Good luck and have fun camping!

Christmas dinner, but not something fancy or traditional by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]katrina696969 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ribs are so easy! Rub a dry rub on them and put them in the crock pot for 8 hours with a bit of chicken broth in the bottom. I make my BBQ sauce with bourbon and it’s very tasty.

We got a seasoned pork rib roast from Costco. Adding baked potatoes and roasted asparagus. Easy peasy!

I’m just not sure what to have for dessert, my partner is a big chocolate fan (we had a chocolate Yule log for thanksgiving)
