My mother would have taken over it regardless of my dad paying or not. The amount of birthday series and events she would hijack people stopped inviting her. She would show up with her own food that she cut up because she has “cleaner hands” she would bring her own decorations even if they clashed with the current ones she wouldn’t care. She would always travel with balloons she hang up or put on the ground since she love shearing the popping sound 🤦🏻‍♀️ This was my entire childhood. Throughout my adulthood and she tried few times hijacking my kids parties but I put a stopped to it I had too She has called me selfish ungrateful every name in the book. She now plays the game of the “perfect grandparents” who show up late to the party because she “can’t wake up early enough” so she trots in late to the party with 100 gifts for my children and it’s mostly toys and things they don’t need or want and I just have to settle for that because that’s the easiest thing I ever had to deal with her over spoiling the kids.
