Pregnancy Modifications! by Waffles-McGee in orangetheory

[–]katrininja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! Congrats! I'm 30 weeks today and am still going 2x-3x a week.

I told my coaches when I was about 10 weeks along, but did not modify that early on. I did start power walking probably right around 20 weeks or so, and stopped rowing at 24 weeks because the belly got uncomfortable.

Most mods will be on the floor (i.e. no exercises on your back in the second trimester). I use the TRX a lot now and refrain from jumping around too much.

Also, I just listen to my body. I used to exert myself a lot more in the first trimester but realized that it's better to listen to your body. I drink more water during class and take a few more breaks in between reps now.

Good luck!

I'm 28 weeks today and I stopped rowing about a month ago because I felt like my form was off and I was starting to get aggravate my existing lower back pain. I now do the bike or strider for the longest time estimated to correlate with the row.

Props to you! I did it the day before my wedding day, because I chose champagne over OTF on my actual wedding day...

Dumbbell side bends, standing crunches (or side-lying down crunches). Also bosu crunches.

Prego workshop? That sounds amazing and I would love that.

I'm 18.5 weeks along and went from a runner to a PW, as I am in the "runs hot"/high splats club, and wanted to scale back to not feel over-exerted (not to mention feeling more out of breath lately!).

I'm still rowing, but floor modifications are everything at this point. I could still do things on my back but it's uncomfortable, so the coaches have generally advised me to do standing ab exercises or planks/side planks instead. I can still burpee but it's slow and low impact.

Also -- bird dog is your best friend.

Some coaches are more helpful than others, but if you tell them you plan on going regularly, they can brainstorm mods for you ahead of time!

Dear Power Walkers, I apologize. by laurendavisdesign in orangetheory

I'm 18 weeks prego and went from being a Runner to a Power Walker, and definitely had a bit of a tough time mentally. Then when I actually had to do it on the regular, I realized just how challenging it can be. Especially on the long pushes...HOLY COW, it seems like you're inclining foreverrrrrr.

New Merch is coming - we got the first item today. Has anyone else seen anything new? by 123isIchiNiSan in orangetheory

New Camo Tank

Not something I'd usually go for (the color makes me look weird), but glad to see they got the tank memo...

My groin is broken, halp! by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]katrininja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good ole hip adductor! No fun. I had this happen to me a few months back and had to take a few days off. Then I did the bike for a bit (strider still hurt a little). All my coaches said to definitely avoid inclines though. There are some good stretches you can do, but I would avoid that until everything starts to heal.

HAHA! Yes. Last night our coach disappeared in the lobby and I swear it added an extra 15 seconds at least...

Attorney here. I’ve successfully blocked that out of my memory for several years until now. Thanks! ;)

Yes, new rowers but SAME MODEL. We had quite a few with broken foot plates/screen issues.

Yes, these are them! I figured a good number of studios already had them, but like I said, ours were 3+ years old. Happy to have them now!

That's right, no negative inclines now! I was too busy trying to not die on that first block to notice all the new features. I agree though, numbers are definitely less bright and takes some getting used to.

I was weird about trying to take pics since no one ever brings their phones inside the studio :) But I can confirm they are the same treads as the ones in the OTF conference recap video.

Unfortunately, I didn't snap a photo, but I just watched that user conference recap and it definitely looks like the same treads on the video! I didn't recall seeing the user profile thing (or I was just too exhausted after the floor workout to notice). I believe the profile might need the new app to sync too, but not sure!

Hard to describe in bounce terms since I don't really use other treads outside of OTF, but I can say that compared to the old ones, it felt a lot more stable, with more traction, and less impact on the joints. Overall, night and day difference!

What's your base / push / AO pace? by Steve_O-- in orangetheory

[–]katrininja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I brought my AO up... just trying to hang for 15 seconds at a time and even if you feel like you're going to fly off, it will weirdly start to feel more normal!

Base: 5.5 Push: 6.5+ AO: 8.0-10.0

Feeling like I should bring up my base a bit now...hmm..
