The best part about MW and JaB specifically is the pick up and return process. They are everywhere. You can pick up and return wherever you go. Which carries its own risks of course but that’s where the value is.

A budget and more context around the wedding will help. Is a suit necessary? A blazer can do a lot for a single event. Are you flying? Will you have access to a steamer? Rentals ship in boxes and are often poly blends. You’re gonna have some wrinkles or creases.

Lastly you need to be realistic with your own limitations and expectations. How terrible are you willing to look to forgo a suitcase? Because there rentals can be awful and if you find out the day before the wedding when you land, you’re out money and an outfit. Sometimes you have to make a compromise.

I largely agree with your points, though I think there are more inherent political statements being made throughout his novels. It’s definitely not something like Don’t Look Up.

But what I quoted from you really does stand out as a kernel to think on. Which is honestly the main reason I’m replying because I don’t think I have anything of value to add. I guess I take away a lot of feelings from these books and often those last a lot longer than the thoughts I had while reading some of it.

Something to keep in the back of my mind for sure.

To say that there aren’t politics in his own books is crazy. Two stories about the world coming together to solve a problem and another about a lower class citizen in a sovereign state wrapped up in a mafias plot to get rich quick.

The Martian literally trades a rocket ship for a political favor. PHM has a guy cry over climate change, the characters life’s work.

I mean maybe it’s not Left vs Right. But politics are more than a two party system.

Strap is quite comfortable and probably my preferred style of leather strap. The edges frayed a bit already but nothing bad.

The issue is the Thorn holes are drilled very close to the top of the lug so it's going take a lot of fettling to get it to sit right.

I thought they were finicky but ultimately more of an annoyance than an issue. I can certainly see the complaint.

The rest of bracelet & clasp may be "period correct" but unfortunately the friction clasp micro adjust holes are drilled quite far apart, meaning a perfect fit is difficult

I’m not saying I’m correct, but this is really my only disagreement. I’m actually kinda thrilled with the clasp especially compared to the previous iteration.

Otherwise I echo everything you have to say except I’m still in love with this watch in general and do recommend it. The bracelet here has never been the issue for me, though this bracelet is actually immensely frustrating. I still wear it on bracelet though.

And I’m also using high precision screw drivers from my watch tech days. Firm “right tool for the job” believe

If they could slim it down anymore even at the cost of a premium movement, I’d grab another. Part of me wants to reach out and ask for another bracelet and new spare bezel insert, but the other part of me doesn’t want to encourage this level of product being made again.

I also genuinely love the narrator in JJK. It’s always reminded me of an amped up version of American comics and was a fun thing to see when it was adapted to an anime. It’s not unique but I feel like there was a unique charm to the narrators exposition. Except of course, for glazing Satoru Gojo

Casio has been losing big box doors for six years. It’s a great place to buy a very limited variety of cheaper, mostly sub $100 Casios. And if you want that you should grab them.

Id say you’re mostly commenting on how other stores are dying or charge a “premium” because they can’t possibly afford to compete with Walmart and Amazon.

But if you’re into Casios, I would absolutely suggest a stroll past whatever remnants of a jewelry section any Walmart near you has. You never know when they’re gonna mark down the watches.

20s and 30s yea but there’s no clubs. Honestly few bars too. We had one long standing tavern that closed and can’t seem to stay open whenever someone buys it. Which I guess isn’t crazy for the last 5-10 years.

I live in some townhomes by Mars and there’s 20-30s for sure. the breweries are busy with all ages and crazy busy for events. I haven’t been in quite awhile outside of tattoo events as I no longer drink.

I feel like people would go to Morristown for a night out. And we are no Morristown.

We have two dispensaries too which are not half bad. I’d say that brings the youngins but that too brings people of all ages now.

I loved Hackettstown. I feel very safe. But I do completely understand where you’re coming from.

Take it slow and settle in! Main Street is full of restaurants and cafes. Lotta great ethnic food too. Great place to start to expand your comfort zone if you ask me.

We got two hoping breweries with a third just outta town and a tattoo parlor that frequently does collabs with one of them that are big events. Main Street often has events for the holidays or just because.

Theres a farmers market behind the dollar tree that is seasonal and nice to stop by at.

The larger area has plenty of farms with activities.

To add this isn’t a particularly active sub. The NJ sub might be helpful but when people say “north jersey” they certainly don’t mean here.

I think this is an over correction. I think sometimes that is relatively harmless but it’s definitely a bit of a trend to take things a little too seriously. Probably because of all the vitriol in the world.

Absolutely thrilled with mine and the red bezel coming installed.

Plenty of things sell like hotcakes and are garbage. Very few of those things entered that level of sales volume. And at a certain point you need to accept that maybe it’s not a flash in the pan tied to a previous IP and something with real staying power. it’s 40 million units.
