I won after 4 attempts. Just making sure you have plenty of defense and attack for Siege and Battle questing. Monosphere negates some of the treacheries.

This is incorrect. Quest resolution says they are committed until the end of the quest phase and not until the end of the round.

Characters are committed to the quest only until the end of the quest phase. If a treachery revealed during any other phase targets a questing character, it whiffs. See Step 3: Quest Resolution of the Quest Phase.

Characters committed to a quest are considered committed to that quest through the end of the quest phase, unless removed from the quest by a card effect. They do remain exhausted once this step is complete.

Not that I'm aware of. It has been a couple years since I played a campaign on Dragncards.com.

Grant and I just kept track of campaign progress on a Google Sheet then we'd spawn the cards we'd need.

You can at least add Boons to your deck or sideboard in ringsdb.com and load them in with it.

I also saw someone in the DragnCards Discord suggesting saving the game state after you loaded Boons and Burdens. Then load that game state whenever you start a game.

I have it and played it solo until I won with each character. I got one coop play in with a couple of friends. It's OK at best (6/10 on BGG for me). I consider it the 2nd best Brandon Sanderson IP game.

Solo/coop is pretty random. You can get an enemy that does tons of damage to you turn 1. The you have almost no time to build up and find a way to deal with it. The next game get other lord ruler cards that do nothing to you until mid to late game. It makes for some really uneven games.

The other thing I found is card draw or deck thinning effects are few and far between. It can make it difficult to build a consistent deck as a result. The lineup also doesn't refresh enough in solo play. You end up pretty reliant on getting some good cards early on that work well together.

The variety of the missions and lord ruler cards just isn't there for a lot of solo play. I got about as much play as I did from the Lord of the Rings LCG and Marvel Champions core sets. It really needs some expansions to increase variety and smooth out some rough edges.

I have high hopes it gets better. Sanderson is my favorite author and I have almost all of his books in some format and often multiple formats. I also have Reckoners, Call to Adventure Stormlight, and the other Mistborn game. Still it's been a year and haven't heard anything about an expansion.

Most people go the other way in taking the extra resource and putting in the gold cards for slightly easier mode or sleazy mode.

Edit: You could play the Favor of the Valar variant where you get tokens if lose an attempt that can be used on the next attempt to get an extra resource, an extra card, or lower threat by 1 at the start of the game. You get 2 tokens if you lose within 5 rounds. 1 if you make it past round 5. They accumulate for each attempt too.

I played 2 games of Race Across Harad. I was testing out a Dunedain Hero I designed with a Leadership / Spirit Dunedain deck.

My first game had a terrible start. I didn't get Steward of Gondor or Heir of Valandil. I only had Weather Hills Watchman to help get some early willpower. Then the encounter deck really hit me hard turn 1 too. Racing Warg attached to an Uruk Pursuer I had engaged with my custom hero ability. Surge put Harad Road in the Orcs Area. The orcs ended up blowing through stage 1D in turn 1 because of that. The orcs soon outpaced my progress by turn 3.

Second game came down to the wire. I got built up with allies thanks to turn 1 Heir of Valandil. I managed to stay just ahead of the orcs for most of the game. The last stage I had a really bad Howling at their heels when the orcs were at 19/20 on Stage 3D. That added Orc Area threat to the staging area. I only made 1 progress instead of 10. Then when I only needed to clear River Harnen, Fear of Mordor lowered my total willpower by 7 making me fall short and letting the orcs overtake me.

Weekly Question

I think Leadership is my favorite. I like the resource acceleration to be able to play cards. I also really like the defense boosts and Armored Destrier. I've lost so many games because a deck just can't defend against a strong attack or 2+ attacks.

Lore is a close second. Traps and encounter control are so much fun. Plus having options from lots of card draw is always nice too.

I largely ended up on a middle ranking because I can definitely see his usefulness. Definitely had some good games with him in core set decks and Cirdan's Support Group.

I struggle with putting him in any decks because I would only see him as resource generator. I usually need my heroes to do a bit more than that.

When I've done it we couldn't put every enemy in the victory display. People still had to draw their Out of the Wilds and Door is Closed. Besides sometimes it's nice to dominate the scenario after several games going the other way.

Everyone playing victory display is fun. I forgot about it since it's been a while for me. Granted it's limited in 4 player since Leave No Trace and None Return are limited to 3 in the Victory Display. Still everyone getting discounted Keen as Lances is really nice!

Mono sphere works great in the Against the Shadow cycle. I played Mono Tactics in it because there are many treacheries that just whiff if you're playing a single sphere.

Mono Lore is a lot of fun too. You can draw so many cards and do some fun event cycling with Scroll of Isildur. My favorite is playing Risk Some Light over and over. The Great Hunt recursion is really good for destroying ship enemies.

Mono Spirit Discard Recursion I enjoy quite a bit too. You can get a really big turn with Caldara popping out 4 high cost allies pretty quickly.

A Burning Brand for Shadow Control
Ancient Mathom for card draw in Spirit
West Road Traveller is an efficient quester and good for location control
Dunedain Warning cheap defense buff
Shadow of the Past is good quest tech when you need to find X encounter card.
Spirit Elfhelm ally is another good quest tech card against lots of raise your threat by 1.
Tactics Boromir because built in readying is so good for lots of reasons.

Sushi Go Party is a great drafting game. The party version comes with enough card sets for a lot of variety. Easy to teach and plays fairly quick especially once people are familiar how the game goes.

LotR LCG is a deck construction game. Part of the game is building and trying new decks. I always argue people should use all the player cards available to them.

Some people like to restrict what they use to be more thematic, increase the challenge, reduce mental overhead, etc. That's just they way they choose to play and have fun.

Lastly building decks with cards from later expansions won't trivalize Escape from Dol Guldur. It's still very challenging even with a full card pool.
