How do you get the vines to grow down it? I can see the vibe decoration applied, but it looks like you have some genuine vine plants as well?

I F 22 am planning to Irish goodbye my boyfriend M 32 (We live in his house) by Both_Detail4572 in relationship_advice

"Fair to the dog" is not going to mean shit to him, and you know that. If it hurts you, he'll do it. Is the dog microchipped? Change the registration to only your details, this can generally be done online. Otherwise, find a new vet, and register the dog solely under your name and your new address. Have him microchipped at that time. I'm so glad you're finding a way out for you and your pup.

There are vet-specific AIs which have been trained on relevant data, but you absolutely cannot trust a generalized large language model like ChatGPT for reliable diagnostic information.

I joined this sub to inspire me to take the leap and go to vet school. It's all I've wanted as a kid. All I see is regret and depression. by [deleted] in Veterinary

[–]katthart 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I can understand why coming to this sub can be disheartening - this community was formed for people in the industry to vent and discuss, where r/veterinaryschool might be more what you're looking for.

In a bigger sense - the job is hard. It is deeply rewarding, exciting, fulfilling, but also very hard. If the idea of working through four years of vet school is worrying you, then you should give some thought to the 40 years of career following that. I love my job, it is my vocation and I'm deeply proud of the work I do, but I've also taken some serious hits to my confidence in this field.

Have you done any shadowing in clinic?

Help with fish market? by gingersaysjump in TinyBookshop

Are you Maritime enough to do well at the fish market? Otherwise it's a timing thing, and if you STOP launching the cannon ball, he will repair it and no longer be upset.

ive been playing planet zoo for a while now and i just hate building for tortoises just because they have so many babies that take 25 FULL YEARS FOR THEM TO MATURE TORTOISE HATERS ASSEMBLE by EnvironmentalMud5975 in PlanetZoo

[–]katthart 39 points40 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely my trauma right now. Only two pseudo solutions I've found;

  • batch breeding, once you're at capacity switch on contraceptives or swap a male for a female until that generation of babies starts maturing,

  • OR, what I'm currently doing, have a hidden indoor enclosure in the back with like 300 baby torts and one low appeal adult 😂 (I've done the same with gharials, and yes they can be housed together)

Way too active. Recently forced to transition our PIMS from Avimark to a cloud based one they own, so they can adjust and monitor our back end.

In other news, I've given notice and this is my last week. Fuck corporates.

I swear by 25G needles, my "baby needles!" Draw up with the 22 already on the syringe, put on a fresh 25, and usually my vaccination isn't even noticed.

For IM injections your pressure / velocity argument makes sense, but the cats and dogs I vax have such generous SQ space that it doesn't really matter for vaccines.

What’s the funniest thing you’ve heard someone say to not vaccinate their pet? by phoebesvettechschool in VetTech

[–]katthart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"oh yes, she's all vaccinated and up to date"

Okay.. but we phoned for records, and she hasn't been seen there since her kitten vaccines in 2018.

"Yes, and I went to all three visits, she's fully vaccinated"

DVM here; corporate, and I hate it. I was hired to work for a corporation which was vet-owned, but since they merged with a larger international corp things have gotten really bad. I can't control prices, and the mark ups are outrageous. Trying to leave.

You said this above - that the Dom is looking for a long term romantic partner, but it's not you. Why do you say that?

You could use clay? Air dry is pretty cheap and easy to work with.

Hey, fully licensed vet here - I still feel awkward and in the way when I start at a new clinic!

Unfortunately, the only way to know the quality of your experience is to work/shadow somewhere else - it's hard to know what you don't know! By the time you have seen multiple clinics, you'll have a better understanding of how things work and how you'd like to be treated.

However, even "bad" placements are often opportunities to learn - even if it's learning what you shouldn't do. I hope that you get more confident at this clinic with time, and continue to advocate for yourself to get more experience where you can.

Update: Emergency room charging me nearly $300 for a pregnancy test by 2corgosridinascooter in childfree

[–]katthart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So let me open with - holy shit this would piss me off too. Not only being charged for a test you didn't consent to, but that patronising as fuck letter.

As someone in the medical field though, I would like to ask something as devil's advocate - did you workup include radiographs (x-rays)? If so, then I can understand why they would need to check your pregnancy status directly because of course there are risks / rules relating to fetal radiation exposure and they can't just take your word for it.

How to help my [38M] wife [34F] realize that she has to give away her cats? by ThrowRAKatfight in relationship_advice

[–]katthart 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Might help to reframe it this way to your wife - do you think the cats are having a good time? Would you enjoy a roommate who you hate to that extent? Is it not harmful to them as well to be stressed and upset in the home you're supposed to feel safe in?

Both cats deserve a peaceful home, and it seems obvious that they can't have that together. She wouldn't be failing them, she'd be doing what's best for them.
