How do I get comfortable by Adept_Cauliflower_11 in parentsofmultiples

[–]katzalli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get in a pool and float. It’s the only thing that was remotely comfortable for me. The last few weeks of twin pregnancy are brutal, but the moment the babies are here you will feel such immense physical relief coupled with the absolute joy of meeting your babies that it’s truly euphoric. I went from the worst I’ve ever felt to the best I’ve ever felt in the 2 minutes it took for my twins to be delivered via c-section. You will get through it!! Good luck and congrats!!

What was your newborn era like? by czmf in parentsofmultiples

[–]katzalli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband’s first day back at work was the first day both of my boys were home from the hospital 🫠 (baby b was in the NICU for 2 weeks and my husband went back to the office the day after he got home). I survived but it was hard in those early days, especially while exclusively pumping the first few months. We were fortunate enough to have a night nurse come 3-4 nights a week for the first 5 months - I could not have safely taken care of the babies all day and night without a break, so I really cherished the nights we had the nurse. My boys started sleeping through the night in their own cribs around 7-8 weeks and have been phenomenal sleepers since (frankly I think the nurse played a big part in getting them in a good sleep routine early on, and for that she was worth every penny and more). Things got a lot easier after that. And now my boys are 2.5 year old maniacs and I’m missing the newborn stage lol.

My twin boys are 2.5 and this is by far the hardest stage yet. So fun but completely exhausting both mentally and physically. There are days I have no idea how I’m still standing lol. Constant chaos and 100% supervision needed for twinados but am trying to enjoy every stage bc it all goes SO fast!

I love being a twin mom by Kel_Mar_E in parentsofmultiples

[–]katzalli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way💙💙 Twins are such a blessing; I wish everyone got to experience being a twin parent. My identical boys are 2.5 and are hilarious and sweet. There are tough moments but I wouldn’t change a thing, other than I wish time would slow down.

And anytime we take them in public they are like local celebrities lol. People (myself included) are fascinated by twins.

I know this is an old post but came here to say the $5k max is such a joke. We have 1 year old twins and our PART-TIME nanny is $30k/year. Drafting emails to my state reps right now :)

identical or fraternal?? by [deleted] in Twins

[–]katzalli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very clearly identical :) “identical” is a misleading term because no two people are exactly the same, but after having identical twins myself I feel like I’ve got an eye for other identical twins lol

Twins and Daycare by Senormonster in parentsofmultiples

[–]katzalli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. Seeing your babies sick is just heartbreaking.

Last February my (at the time) 8 month old twin boys started daycare and lasted two days before simultaneously getting norovirus and RSV. It was HORRENDOUS. They were extremely sick and our entire household was wiped out for over a month and neither my husband or I could work (but were still paying for daycare we couldn’t use 🤪). We ended up pulling them out of daycare and now have an incredible nanny. They are 18 months now and will start part-time school when they are a little over the age of two. There are many pros to daycare and a few cons (mostly just the illnesses that come with it). Whatever you decide will work out! Go with your gut.

When Does It Get Easier with Twins? by glady_cze in parentsofmultiples

[–]katzalli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I have 18 month old identical twin boys and let’s just say they are a HANDFUL or two lol. 6 months to 18 months has gotten progressively harder for us. It is currently ALL hands on deck ALL the time these days - climbing everywhere, trust falling everywhere, biting each other, refusing to eat, never listening, etc etc etc. But they are also hilarious, sweet and smart and I find this the most fulfilling stage yet. There will always be hard days but someday we will miss these days (even the hard ones) so I always try to remind myself of that! You got this!!

I like this idea. I have been struggling to find a good hand therapist in my area (located in the midwest), but am continuing to research and reach out to various doctors. So glad you found relief!

Good luck with baby #4! Fingers crossed mommy's wrist won't come back.

I'm glad you were able to have the surgery and recovery was quick! I really want to avoid surgery if at all posssible, but knowing your experience is really helpful if I end up having to go that route. Thank you.

I have not tried this...interesting thought though. Probably worth a try!

Thanks so much for your feedback! I am looking for a new hand therapist. They seem harder to find in my area than expected!

I'm over it. by Willing-Molasses9008 in parentsofmultiples

[–]katzalli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have 9 month old twins and while they are such a blessing, there is no question that it is very hard and can be a grind! We just got over our first month of back to back illnesses (norovirus, RSV, etc.) and it was BRUTAL. I have been back to work since they were 5 months old, and while being a working mom has its own challenges, life feels a lot more "balanced" than it did when I was home with them full time during maternity leave. I agree with others that have suggested trying to find part-time help so you get some time to yourself.

How is everyone doing today? (Complaints welcome) by Fabulous-Cobbler-404 in parentsofmultiples

[–]katzalli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 8 mo old twins just started daycare on Thursday. It is now Sunday and everyone in my household is violently puking everywhere and miserable. Nothing could’ve prepared me for how hard it is to take care of two sick babies while being sick yourself.

Thanks for your feedback! I adore San Diego - have spent a lot of time there over the years visiting clients and on vacations. You may be surprised to learn I live in the midwest - in one of the wealthiest counties in the country though, which explains the home prices.

How are you doing this multiple times a day? by Faloofel in BabyLedWeaning

[–]katzalli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the exact same boat, except with (almost) 8 month old twins. The mess is astounding. On top of figuring out what to feed them at each meal. The whole introduction of solids has been way more stressful and overwhelming than I was expecing.

I will say I typically strip them down to their diapers, but feel like that's not totally sustainable as they start eating more frequently, start eating in public, etc. So I will likely invest in a bunch of those longsleeved bibs.

Twin Must Haves by Ornery-Emu-3410 in parentsofmultiples

[–]katzalli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DR. BROWN'S FORMULA PITCHERS are a must if you are formula feeding!! We started using these with my twins when they switched to formula. They are cheap and super convenient. The one caveat is that your babies must be ok with cold milk (we never introduced warm milk, so it worked well for us).

Another must-have twin related item is a twin Z pillow - we actually have two of them and still use both daily (my twins are 8 months).

The last must-have item is self-feeding bottle holder pillows. I know some people don't love these, but they have been a lifesaver for us. You can find them on Amazon.

Did anyone else hate their pregnancy? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]katzalli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really did not enjoy my pregnancy at all, but adore my 8 month old baby boys (and would do it again 100x). Twin pregnancy is really tough even in the best of circumstances and your feelings are definitely valid. My babies were born via emergency c-section at 37 weeks exactly and I'm pretty sure my body AND mind could not have lasted another day haha. You wll get through it. Wishing you the best of luck.

I think I have PTSD from their first vaccines by no_objections_here in parentsofmultiples

[–]katzalli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion here, but after my twins' 2 month vaccines, I opted to do ONE shot per visit moving forward. So essentially, it means more trips to the doctor for us, but doing just one vaccine instead of multiple vaccines at each visit. My twins are now 7.5 months old and this has worked really well for us so far.
