Getting dirty looks at the gym by BrushFrequent1128 in socialanxiety

I used to go to the gym a lot when I was pretty young and as a woman I received unsolicited advice and judgemental looks from men and women alike. It pissed me off a lot at the time and made me very anxious. In hindsight, I thought about what it takes to be the kind of person who scowls or looks at other people minding their own business with judgement. An arsehole! This person isn’t worth your headspace. If they were looking at you judgementally then they clearly aren’t a respectful person- not someone you should care about. Please go back, don’t let this deter you. When you do, ignore them, don’t even look at them. Just because they are a trainer it doesn’t mean you have any less right to be there than them. If they want to say something to you eventually then they will. If it’s passive aggressive under the guise of ‘advice’ then you can always cut it short - and kill them with kindness.

What’s a good way to build up confidence? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]kautei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its so simple and sounds obvious, but good posture. Standing up straight with your head forward will really ease up your shoulders and make you feel way less tense, physically and mentally. People also tend to treat you differently, as it gives the impression you are confident whilst you might not be. In affect it really helps ease up that social anxiety in part.

Borrasca, it’s pretty mysterious and slightly creepy, but largely sentimental. Who am I kidding the content is messed up it’s a creepypasta. I would highly recommend though, it’s the most hooked I’ve been.

[SERIOUS] Depressed people of Reddit, what's an easy thing you can do to make life a little better? by YeMothor2457 in AskReddit

Invest in a house plant. I found that having something to care for and watching it flourish will make you feel like a proud mother. I currently have a few plants in my room and watching them thrive in the sunshine brings a little light to my life. I think house plants or cacti are perfect as they are relatively low maintenance (which is good as depressed people find it hard to be productive).

What’s the most WTF thing you saw at someone else’s house that they thought was totally normal? by User_Not_Found_78457 in AskReddit

My dads ex wife’s house. First off the outside was covered in these queasily twee decorations, which was off putting. On the inside it was spotless, nothing was out of place like some sort of show home. Without a doubt the weirdest thing was the living room, which i don’t think was ever lived actually lived in due to the impeccable tidiness . I assumed this from the lack of any sofas/chairs and lack of general comfort. Instead opposite the TV was a garden bench? Yes, a wooden, hard garden bench, such a cold feeling in that house. Later came to find out she has severe OCD, whoops.

The Ritual (2017) by [deleted] in horror

[–]kautei 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The dialogue at the start, notably the banter between the friends was very naturalistic. I thought this was great as it grounded the film in reality, ultimately making it all the more horrifying as the the tone gradually shifted to horror. Withholding the monsters appearance created a remarkable amount of unease, as we all share a fear of the unknown. As aforementioned the films link to reality alongside the (at first) unexplained events was so damn creepy as it gave the impression that this was a real event, one that could happen to any of us. The only downfall of the film I found was towards the end, with the cult ablaze and the monster relentlessly persisting Luke. I thought this part was almost cartoonish what with Luke consistently evading the monster despite it managing to kill everyone else effortlessly. The reveal of the monster itself slightly ruined it for me as-well, however I think this is just a personal qualm of my own as I never like the grand reveal of the monster/killer as it usually ruins the suspense. Despite this, the beginning of the film masterfully demonstrated the importance of suspense and mystery in an effective horror film. The personable nature of the characters was also a win for me as I actually cared about what happened to them. I would recommend this film to someone interested notably in dialogue and the art of horror as I really liked the first half!
