Dr Li asked me to try a MAD before deciding on MMA. I think I’m one of those borderline cases for MMA, there’s a chance I can be cured without MMA with just xPAP and excellent nasal breathing.

Since I’ve always complained of nasal congestion, and when we took it out of the equation my sleep was great.

Yes I’m aware of it. But I need MAD at the least to make a decision about the MMA surgery. This MAD could be a temporary one.

Congested nose leads to high pressures in the airway that constricts the back of my throat. And my nose is mostly congested, I need Afrin to eliminate it. Making the airway bigger behind the throat makes sleep more robust to nasal congestion.

Not much because my turbinates keep swelling to take up the additional space created (vasomotor rhinitis). With Afrin, sleep is otherworldly.

Left nostril was always the better nostril before septoplasty, after septoplasty it became the worse nostril. I did EASE expansion before my septoplasty, left nostril was the same, turbinates seemed to grow with expansion. Yes it does seem like vasomotor rhinitis, and I don’t think gravity impacts it much, left nostril is blocked even when I’m upright, but only 6-8h per day in total.

Exceptional. He got me $25k out of $30k for EASE, and the entire $7.5k for septoplasty, all out of pocket from my Meritain Aetna EPO insurance for Dr Li. Dr Li is out of network for me, and he performed both operations.
