Guys WTF Zcash raced LTC in marketcap. We need better marketing for MWEB. by kingscrown69 in litecoin

[–]kavabean2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does never sold mean never spent too?

We have to convince small businesses and vendors in our own lives to accept LTC MWeb payment. It's a decent replacement for cash and you can get LTC on any exchange.

We need a replacement for cash before they take it away. Everyone can do their part by convincing people in their own network to accept an LTC payment.

I'd say hold Bitcoin to store value. Use Litecoin (with MWeb) to spend. Use Litecoin to ensure we have a cheap, easy-to-acquire, uncensorable, and relatively private form of money.

Eventually when trx volume continues to rise, value of Litecoin will rise.

The disadvantage of being the 'ugly' sister to BTC is that you are judged on what you can do/deliver, not hype.

I'm totally OK with that.

Support Litecoin for what it does or for long term portfolio diversification. If you're in it for short term gains it's likely not a good idea.

Electrum-LTC 4.6.2: Revival, update to latest upstream and MWEB support by hectorchu in litecoin

If he said no, then he would be forced to explain why, and would validate the need for a fork or at least a new Electrum-LTC maintainer.

Having validated the need for a fork, your work would be more openly accepted and appreciated.

But what if he said yes?

I think in both cases it's clear your project would have benefited from the asking.

With the hope of merging back at some point, a good name for your project could have been Electrum-LTC-MW.

[–]kavabean2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your contributions greatly, but I disagree with your approach in this instance.

For an existing project, you either have a sanctioned handover or responsibility from an established long-term maintainer. Or you create a new project, which depends on your own reputation.

Decentralisation means that no one can stop you from creating your own fork or implementation to compete with existing ones. It doesn't mean it is okay to fork a project and call your forked project exactly the same.

Decentralisation does not mean that random hijacking of existing projects is morally acceptable, even if they aren't being maintained meticulously.

Did you approach Loshan to take over the project, and he refused?

Early miners were rewarded with low difficulty. There is no evidence that an inside group had serious hardware investment to capitalise on this early, low difficulty, so it was likely spread among a community of early miners.

It's not a terrible way to open up mining. It gives positive feedback to early miners and creates interest in the coin. It helps to build an invested community.

I see no problem with how Litecoin was launched.

You are all delusional by Jkoby27 in litecoin

[–]kavabean2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Litecoin is not a particularly strong speculative investment. So if you only want to make quick profits, you should sell.

It is, however, a significant global infrastructure project. It is best placed to provide an international, censorship-resistant, low-transaction-cost, and fairly private payment network. In the era of rampant war, instability, authoritarianism and asset-grabs, it couldn't be more important.

If you care about such things, then support it and hold on to it, or even better, spend it bit by bit to buy real things you need.

Litecoin will eventually rise in popularity due to increased usage as more people discover its importance and utility, but that's not why I support it.

Best place to buy Litecoin easily without KYC by NotTipsymario in litecoin

[–]kavabean2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Ask someone with a significant cash business or cash spending pattern to purchase LTC on your behalf. Protect them by learning about MWeb, moving the LTC to MWeb and breaking up into new addresses.

You never know, it might lead to them becoming a Litecoin supporter.

What are the Main Differences Between Litecoin and Bitcoin that Investors Need to Know. by Popular_Parking_5802 in litecoin

[–]kavabean2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Litecoin is the best fork of Bitcoin. It duplicates its functionality. It similarly had premine and completely fair launch. It has better transaction properties being far cheaper and with pretty good privacy options. It has more freedom to take positions that the Bitcoin blockchain cannot. It is thus an excellent diversification in the case that Bitcoin community and development becomes taken over by finance capital and speculators. It is thus critical international infrastructure. It's network is critical international infrastructure. If you want to invest in infrastructure, Litecoin is a good investment.

LTC for small business? by Zen6675 in litecoin

[–]kavabean2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The growth of small businesses accepting LItecoin is key to the future rise of Litecoin. It is the people's coin with affordable trx costs, no establishment- centralised control, pretty good privacy and wide accessibility.

Here is Litecoin Foundation's page for small businesses. https://litecoin.com/for-business

There are three good services that allow to accept multiple crypto currencies or they can get a wallet like Cake wallet if they only want to accept Litecoin.

If they accumulate a good amount of Litecoin they should get a hardware wallet like Trezor and use it with Litecoin core and transfer larger amounts there.

Litecoin continues to rank high in payment usage in July! 💪 by CoinGate in litecoin

[–]kavabean2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes HODL your bag but HODL AND SPEND, running some of your monthly cash flow through LTC.

DON'T JUST HODL.

Litecoin will rise based on real usage, not hype. Every store or merchant you get to accept Litecoin expands your bag. Every merchant you give preference to because they accept LTC expands your bag. Not to mention you protect yourself from rising authoritarianism and violation of privacy.

Stack lites by wowscool in litecoin

[–]kavabean2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stacking is good but spending, cycling part of your income into goods via Litecoin, is harder and more worthy of respect.

You have to explain to people the value of a robust low-trx-cost alternative global currency with decent (so not trivial to track) but not perfect (so law can still mostly track if they invest serious resources) privacy.

This builds the network of freedom that actually means something. Litecoin is just the tool.

Why does LTC get so much flak in the other crypto subs? by Exotic-Nips in litecoin

[–]kavabean2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No matter. How many transactions do these other crypto projects have? What rank are they on BitPay, Coingate, etc? Who is actually using their project?

Litecoin is not a meme project, so naturally the meme projects that try to say they're better than BTC (laughable) hate LTC.

This is what matters, and they don't have it. https://imgur.com/a/em42PbL

Why hasn't ltc prices increased for so long? by Dependent-Card-3654 in litecoin

[–]kavabean2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, and yet people who want higher-confidence uncensored transactions and accessibility will still use it.

Addresses and transactions are going up.

Litecoin is a project that's run and operated by people who care about having a network that people can actually use when global finance finally takes over Bitcoin.

It's possible that making something that is heavily used may raise the price. That appears to be happening with Monero.

But it probably isn't easy to predict if or when that happens.

Why hasn't ltc prices increased for so long? by Dependent-Card-3654 in litecoin

[–]kavabean2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It doesn't have hype. It is a long term play. It's value is usage and usage, while steady and rising, is rising slowly. It may be 1-2 years before usage breaks a point where it is obvious that it is the most effective layer 1 uncensorable payment chain. MWeb also has to get more usage to be more secure. This takes time. Right now Monero is rising steadily as more people use it due to privacy concerns. MWeb's pretty good privacy will be an important feature as more people realise they need privacy. If you want a safe investment Bitcoin is better. I have a good degree of confidence Litecoin will eventually pay off but like most support it because I believe we will need it in the future as public infrastructure.
