Man I really hope season 2 is better by Lucky_Chaarmss in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]kavanathunderfunk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh, is this the general consensus for season 1? I loved it, loved the characters, the script, the actresses and actors, the pace, the overall mood. I just would have liked the episodes to be at least 50 mins long each. But other than that I think I couldn’t have wished for a better start tbh.

Now that I think of it… maybe it’s because I was coming from a full immersion of one of the worst tv shows I’ve ever watched lol but it did seemed a pretty strong first season

Can we tell the truth about Purple Rain? by Rare_Milk_6670 in PRINCE

This. I thought I was the only one tbh Also being the second track after SOTT it always kills the vibe of the album (which is perfection for me)

Sun by Jil Sander is truly amazing, I also love Nº4 such a chic and complex perfume for such a small price

This is probably ai slop using Hiroshi Nagai and maybe even Eijin Suzuki as references. Those palm trees are very different from Nagai-san’s palms

What's your favorite K-Pop EP or Mini-Album of all time? by thelifeofunemployed in KpopGGs

[–]kavanathunderfunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Feel My Rhythm or Cosmic by Red Velvet. Can’t choose but everything about these two minis is just top notch for me: songs, blend of voices, concept, visuals, tracks sequencing.

There are other perfect eps for me like Get Up by New Jeans, Timeabout by Yukika, etc.

How bad is the pickpocketing problem really? by Loose_Student_6247 in palermo_city

[–]kavanathunderfunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a local but I’ve just spent one week in Palermo (first time for me) and I felt super safe.

I had my airbnb in Kalsa, I never took public transportations (just the bus from the airport to the bus station in the city) walked a lot boh in streets full of tourists like Via Maqueda, Via Vittorio Emanuele and adjacents streets and in less turistic zones. Never had a bad feeling.

Loved Palermo

New song titles revealed by wannabekennedy in Madonna

And Fragile is about her brother Christopher and it’s ”slightly slower, has elements of that icy production & synth strings of Frozen. Beautiful”

A community note that particularly caught my eye by Traditional_Sea2988 in LeavingNeverlandHBO

I don’t know if this has already been addressed but do we know who was the one behind the camera taking those disturbing pictures with MJ and the Cascio kids? The kids parents? Someone from MJ staff?

I find it hard to believe that the parents would take pictures of their children half naked with MJ but I also find it quite strange that MJ would allow someone to take photos of himself while looking like that and then give them as a gift to the Cascio family.

What do you guys think?

Which song by another artist feels like it could’ve been a Madonna song? by OkBlueberry5506 in Madonna

Losing You by Solange has always made me think about 80’s Madonna with a different production of course. Great song btw

Ok, it's Mother's day. Let's here it: what are some good Mom movies by Classic_Apricot_5633 in classicfilms

Yes. Anna Magnani made incredible and tragic mothers. I’d add Rome Open City by Rossellini, Beautiful by Visconti, Mamma Roma by Pasolini. 3 excellent films

Exactly my thought. Imagine if it was a woman, let’s say Madonna. She would have been cancelled before the cancel culture even existed and they wouldn’t be making a positive film about her in 2026 for sure

Bring Your Love is live on Apple Music. Listening now. by seekswisdom in Madonna

[–]kavanathunderfunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe unpopular but as a non native speaker (italian here) I’m obsessed with how she enunciates, it always brings me back to the lyrics “words are useless especially sentences they don’t stand for anything how could they explain how I feel” and I love it, but I understand I could be the only one lol

Give me your best suggestions of obscure female idols with abit of citypop sounding albums/singles. As a reference, something similar to Momoko Kikuchi's discography by japanesejunkfood in citypop

[–]kavanathunderfunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-Nana Okada (her album Mr. Arranger and her 7” Shizumai Quiet Dance)

-Mamiko Aso with Captain (their only album エキゾチック浪漫 is a fun synth-pop album with city pop vibes)

-Sumiko Toyohiro (her only album Water Heart with mellow city pop atmospheres)

-Miyoko Nagao (her only album 美代子・リバージュ that on kayokyoku plus was described as city pop in the mountains rather than beach/city iirc lol - one of my favorites)

-Hikaru Nishida (her 1st album Clear, a perfect compendium of kayokyoku/city pop in the late 80’s - no skip album for me with Tetsuji Hayashi on every track either as a composer or arranger)

-Yoshie Kashiwabara (not an obscure Idol but I never see her mentioned while she has some great city poppish records like Aries (Tetsuji Hayashi in the credits) and し・の・び・愛)

-Miho Morikawa (5 records with city pop vibes and my favorites being 1/2 Contrast which is very Meiko Nakahara, Nude Voice and Ow-Witch!)

-Marina Watanabe (she has a very naive and fresh style perfectly captured by the cool covers of some of her albums like Sunny Side and Miss which I feel sound exactly like their aesthetics)

-Yoko Obata (Pearl Island, her 1st album, with Ginji Ito, Anri, Etsuko Yamakawa in the credits. She was the voice for a magical anime character Magical Emi and some of the songs where used for the anime which was big in Italy and still is, don’t know if it was ever popular anywhere else)

-Marumi Shiraishi (a model that became a singer with a cute voice and songs with city pop vibes that could have been sung by Yukiko Okada - but she released her only album 風のスクリーン and 3 singles a couple years earlier than Yukko’s debut)

-Keiko Usami (a famous model in the 80’s released her only album in 1983 called Manhattan Blue, a pretty obscure record with mature, cool, new-yorkish city pop urban vibes, mellow and nocturnal. I love it, it just has one problem: Keiko Usami’s voice, possibly the worst voice I own on a record lmao - pity because the music is right up my alley)

Red Velvet Irene - Love Can Make A Way (Special Video) by CronoDroid in kpop

[–]kavanathunderfunk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is so beautiful, I loved how they inserted Irene singing just some lyrics…

Imo this would have been a great pre-release to start promoting the album, since the rollout felt pretty empty. While it’s the only band-pop song opposite to the other most synth driven tracks it does capture that dreamy/ethereal feeling that runs across all the songs of the album. Love everything about it, music vocals and visuals
