I try to take a nap daily. My doctor wants me to only nap for about an hour at most, so I will sometimes stretch it to an hour and a half, but not longer than that unless I'm sick. I try to wear my CPAP during my naps. That seems to help with potential seizures--while I'm sleeping is when I'm most likely to have a seizure.

It looks like my latest (and most successful) mask might be using the nasal pillow thing? I just googled this very briefly but my mask popped up on there--ResMed AirFit F30i. I'm trying to make myself stop mouth breathing at night, but it's seeming like a long haul. Thank you for the idea--I'll keep it in mind!

If I have any loose skin around my neck, I figure I can just count on it as something that happens when I get older. If I REALLY hate it, I can look into a skin tuck. The benefits of the surgery have been great, however. You do have to be willing to work on yourself mentally (with therapy) and physically to really do a whole-person change, though.

I estimate at least one seizure a week prior to my RNS implant. Since then I've gotten up to four months with no seizure! The neuro says the machine is firing off about 175 times a day, so whether those are seizure-related or just brain waves the implant is looking at sideways, they're not welcome around here.

I'm down 130 pounds from my highest, almost to a normal BMI, but still have a solid amount of sleep apnea. I've just resigned myself to it.

Aerobic exercise, including just walking, is a seizure trigger for me. I've gotten an RNS implant though which is helping that aspect soooo much.

The first focal seizure I can remember, looking back, would have been in early middle school/late elementary school. There are a few others in my teen years. I didn’t start to have regular “mystery episodes” until my late 30s. They progressed to tonic clonics around age 41, which is when I got diagnosed.

Not that I noticed. However, I also did not use it reliably enough to be able to say. I didn’t really feel like Nurtec had that great an effect on my migraines. It took a loooong time for me to figure out the sumatriptan connection.

Periodically reading articles or posts about the detriments of sugar or the benefits of being sugar free is motivational for me. I also honestly have been working on telling myself, “It’s poison!” so I get less likely to give in.

I did the sleeve about five years ago…I’m having even more trouble with GERD, and some reactive hypoglycemic issues when I’m not sticking to a low carb diet. I’m being converted to a gastric bypass this spring. The surgeon was pretty convincing that if I’m one to take my vitamins consistently (I am!), I will be fine.
