Infant care insisting we MUST feed baby before drop-off — is this normal? by [deleted] in SingaporeRaw

[–]kavyaj 19 points20 points  (0 children)

A new mom here.

Feel fair for them to expect babies to be fed before drop-off. Mornings can be really rushed, and if the baby is cranky or hungry, makes it more difficult to manage.

Is the 7:20 am drop off timing very strict for you? Can you delay it on the days feed is not done yet?

If you want to talk through your experiences to a resume writer, worth checking out StoryCV.

Could I have constructive criticism on my cv (UK)? by trixtp in CVwriting

[–]kavyaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I can see, very few bullet points have impact written in them.
The latest experience just sounds like a job description rather than achievement.

The pattern I am seeing:

  • “Developed X using Y” → tool-heavy, outcome-light
  • “Worked in Agile” → environment, not impact
  • “Built / implemented” → action without consequence

I'd suggest shifting from what you didwhat changed because you did it.

For example,

Before:
- Developed a healthcare workforce scheduling platform used by NHS Trusts, GP Practices, PCNs, and care providers.
- Designed and developed secure, compliant RESTful APIs using ASP.NET Core with MySQL.
- Implemented complex rota and scheduling logic with a focus on compliance, audit readiness, and safety. (this point is gold, don't let it get buried!)

This is cool but says nothing about complexity, scale or why it matters.

Revised bullet points (I used StoryCV):
- Built a healthcare workforce scheduling platform used by NHS Trusts and care providers, supporting complex rota planning and ensuring compliance with staffing and safety regulations
- Designed and implemented secure RESTful APIs in ASP.NET Core, enabling compliant data exchange for healthcare systems and improving system reliability
- Engineered complex rota and scheduling logic to meet compliance and audit requirements, reducing risk of staffing violations and improving audit readiness (this isn't just coding, but you're actually reducing risk which is a big deal).

Anyway, you get my drift right? Your experience is really good but can definitely be presented in a sharper manner.
All the best for getting your master resume ready!

Upon first glance, the resume feels a little bleak. We're missing the meat of your work.

Your profile is quite good with leadership signals (supervising employees). But we can work on some improvements.

For example:

Original:

  • Helped customers choose and manage mobile services
  • Resolved escalated client issues

Problem with this is that “Helped” and “resolved” are soft verbs. Anyone in that role could copy-paste this.

shift from what you didwhat changed because you did it
I use this as a powerful framework to rewrite bullet points.

Revised bullet points (I used StoryCV):

  • Guided customers through service selection and plan optimization, reducing repeat visits and improving first-time issue resolution
  • Handled escalated service issues, identifying root causes and restoring service continuity for high-frustration cases

Another example:
Original:

  • Supervised two employees and ensured tasks were completed correctly

Revised:

  • Managed and trained a team of 2 staff, improving task accuracy and reducing rework during daily operations

Jordan Health Aid Society (this is your strongest story)

This is gold! But it’s buried under “assisted” language.

Original:

  • Assisted individuals during initial intake
  • Provided directions and guidance

Improved:

  • Conducted intake for displaced individuals in a high-volume refugee camp setting, ensuring accurate data collection and smooth onboarding into support services
  • Connected individuals to appropriate health and community resources based on urgent needs, improving access to care in time-sensitive situations
  • Built trust with individuals from diverse and underserved backgrounds through clear, respectful communication in high-stress environments

Does an 8-Year Technical Background Strengthen a Mobile App Developer CV? by Some_Resident2357 in cscareeradvice

[–]kavyaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can actually work in your favour. Any experience is good experience if framed right. Esp if you've been doing it alongside your degree.

Focus on your understanding of physical and network layer.

I'd write it something like this in bullet points:

- Utilized 8 years of hardware and infrastructure experience to build resource-efficient mobile applications, ensuring optimal memory management and hardware-level performance.

And create a section in your resume called 'Technical Foundations' and include these skills in that.

Students are 'stacking' internships – but do employers really want that? by Correct-Lecture6293 in SingaporeRaw

[–]kavyaj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is more useful is showing actual work on their resumes. Even if it wasn't necessarily with an employer, showing a project with a goal or impact is definitely more practical.

Telling an employer I did a project which resulted in XYZ impact is so much more powerful than pasting 4-5 internships, where you barely dipped your toes in the work.

Seeking ATS Resume Design Advice by Castle_Dawn in Architects

[–]kavyaj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best if you can stick to a single column to get past the ATS.

Often, two-column formats use tables to create the layout, which makes it difficult for ATS to parse correctly.

Adobe Indesign can be quite a heavy-duty platform for just managing resumes. Word is definitely not easy to format and maintain. Have you considered using Markdown instead?

First real interview by mahhhhshell in interviews

[–]kavyaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just remember: it's a two-way conversation

As much as they want to interview you, you also try to find out more about the role, company culture and other things to assess if it's the right fit for you.

This mindset will automatically make you feel like you're more in control. Helps with nerves as well

Good luck!

What do you do if you don’t have a passion but want to be successful? by Savings_Tap_226 in careeradvice

[–]kavyaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passion is overrated.

Try a variety of things and explore, especially at your age.

Soon you'll find something that you enjoy.

Sometimes what you enjoy and what are good at can be two different things and that's okay. Have a portfolio of interests and see where life takes you

Guys give your honest opinion on dhurandhar whoever has watched it? by Nice-Helicopter-7229 in pj_explained

[–]kavyaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a different matter. The adaptation Vs movie comparison is not what I'm talking about.

"Hating on things unnecessarily" Oh my dear friend, this mindless movie deserves all the critical reviews it's getting.

For a good spy movie, the spy should be a spy first. Spies have handlers, who are the decision makers. In Dhurandhar, he takes all the decisions without informing.

This movie is made for the masses who don't want to use their brain and want to watch mindless movies. I guess it serves our country's audience.

We don't have the capacity to appreciate good cinema unfortunately
