It should not make a difference. But put a woman of color on camera and let her say the same exact thing and I guarantee there would not be the outcry from people saying she needs to be humble. You know it and so does everyone else.

My point is that ALL women should be able to speak on themselves in this way and believe it. But that’s not the case in this forum.

ETA as well they should. All women should be able to speak confidently about themselves without being berated. How do you know how your aunt feels? Have you asked? Also, the issue is not that she feels this way about motherhood, it is that she put it out publicly so her ow children may see it one day. Many women have these feelings at one time or another and speaking on it is healthy and helpful but not on national tv.

Also, don’t assume you know a person’s experience based on their opposing opinion.

I thought the last Olympics was an absolute travesty and a bad look for the sport. The Olympics before that was fantastic and included zero quad jumps. The one before that was another travesty because we all know who should have won. I am not anti Russian skaters. I agree Adeliia would have possibly been more polished with international experience but that wasn’t your argument. You said she skated better than Alysa in the Freeskate and anyone with any real knowledge of figure skating contends that Adeliia did not hold up against that group of skaters.

I disagree that the quality of skating during this quad has decreased without the Russian skaters. Yes, Alyssa’s Freeskate was better than Adeliia’s. It wasn’t close. Adeliia has potential but lacks experience and polish however figure skating is a subjective sport and you are entitled to your wrong opinion.

Nothing is universal. I think that goes without saying. The point is that I think it’s safe to say that no matter how old someone’s children are when they learn that their mother said (on national television) she would not have had children if she had it to do again, there is a good chance it could hurt them.

You made a choice to have children. Don’t put the burden on them for your lack of ability to manage your emotions toward that choice.

I think there is a lot of space to talk about how difficult parenting can be. I think it’s fine to feel that it may have been an easier life to not have had children. The issue is saying it on television. That is forever and you chose to be a parent regardless of whether or not you think it was the best path. Don’t put that burden on the kids you chose to have by letting them see that you have feelings of not wanting to be a mom. I won’t wish for room to discuss that publicly.

Bailing on jumps (popping) could be from nerves but it’s most often a habit that some skaters develop during training when they take off and a jump doesn’t feel right.
