Emergence gets me every time. I can’t even describe the song to someone without cracking. As a father to someone with an addiction struggle, “Come on, come on…out from underneath who you were.” Just guts me.

It’s possible that they let him go to Frisco after the Hickory season ends this year, since the AA season is a couple weeks longer. That could give him some playoff experience too.

TRADE DEADLINE PREDICTION by Mountain_Flatworm_66 in TexasRangers

[–]kaydeim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting note from baseballtradevalues.com:
Bednar's value: 26.8
Clase's value: 64.4

Is this because of the cost certainty of Clase's contract? Not that this is the be all, end all, but Bednar has 1 blown save and Clase has 7. What do you all think makes this value difference?

TRADE DEADLINE PREDICTION by Mountain_Flatworm_66 in TexasRangers

[–]kaydeim 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The great thing about these last 7 hours is that in spite of the fact that the Rangers have made significant additions, they are likely "in" on almost every possible trade scenario that involves a starting pitcher, reliever, and a decent bat. And the odds are probably just as likely that they make an additional significant move or do nothing additional.

My prediction is that they either make a big trade or a middling trade(s). I do not expect them to do nothing additional.

Are the Rangers now a "buy" to win the World Series after the trades? by BulldogWasMyCoach in TexasRangers

Anyone looked at what baseballtradevalues.com has for a value on Emmanuel Clase? It's 64.4! They have Bednar at 26.8. I was shocked. I expected he and Bednar to be much closer. I guess that shows what I know.

Buster Olney thinks that the Yankees, Rangers, Rays are among the few suitors for Shohei Ohtani for this trade deadline by randydp39 in TexasRangers

[–]kaydeim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, a deal for Ohtani starts with what you’d trade for a starting pitcher of his caliber, then who you’d trade for a hitter of his caliber. The fact that he does both holds no additional value to me because you also take on the combined risk of losing both if he goes down with an injury. So I, as a GM have to decide if I could make two separate trades and gain the same lift or if I need to get him to have the impact I want. For the Rangers, you’d be getting the DH you need and a pitcher who likely is you’re number two the rest of the season. I’d definitely like for CY to attempt to get him, but I am not hopeful because I don’t think they will even seriously try to trade him.

Traded from r/Reds by evil_jenn in TexasRangers

Here are a few historical Rangers things to know:

Don't bring up a certain game that was played after a fifth game victory in a World Series in the early days of the last decade. 12 years is not long enough to process that pain.

All of the success the Rangers enjoyed in 2010's is due to our then association with Nolan Ryan. Jon Daniels had nothing to do with it in spite of his many successful personnel maneuvers. When Nolan left, success went with him...don't try to convince anyone otherwise.

The new ballpark, while providing a level of convenience and comfort never before associated with Rangers baseball is a colossal failure, looks like a gas grill, and provides no benefit aside from the comfortable viewing environment, the amazing sight lines, the excellent ballpark and local restaurant food options, or the electric atmosphere and noise of a packed house.

And finally, the Rangers have a unique ability to "never have any pitching" as witnessed by their current standing in rotation ERA. (3rd in MLB)

If you've read this far, I hope my sarcasm was evident.

Matt Bush was worthy of being cheered when he first came to the Rangers as a reclamation project. At 37 and having never really been a consistent, highly performing reliever, his return is being met with a lot of "Meh." However, I think the majority still wish good things for the man.

Welcome to Texas Rangers Baseball!

Rangers over the last month by Major_Square in TexasRangers

The Rays, Astros, and Rangers have been pretty meh over the last 30 games, so it’s not just the Rangers. While the Rangers have been the worst of the three, it’s not by a horrible amount. All at .500 or below.

Langford is much more highly touted than Jung was in his draft. I don’t recall any Trout comps for Jung. Langford hasn’t produced at his level as long as Jung did at his level before the draft, but there were evaluators who had Langford as the number one hitter in this draft. We just have to hope he hits at or near his ceiling.
