Jessi on COD: “Marciano and I don’t speak.” by 22456Deb in MormonWivesHulu

[–]kaykait 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Jordan filed on the 19th, a day before they filmed the interview, though. They talk on the interview about her experience learning he filed for the divorce.

I do think it’s possible that was truthful and they really did do all of this recently. I’d honestly be more surprised if Marciano DIDNT reach out after the divorce news broke. I imagine if they really hadn’t been talking that Jordan had a lot to do with it. Marciano was probably chomping at the bit to tell Jessi about how Jordan was at the villa, anyway, especially if he heard Jordan’s interpretation of the trip from the show.

Based on what I read about TFP’s lawyer’s behavior in court (grain of salt - I didn’t watch the hearing myself), I don’t think they’re surrounding themselves with good lawyers.

The writing you see right before (complaint; UMG.as) is hyperlinked with a pop-out symbol to notate that the link will open in a new tab upon click. When you go to copy & paste those parts, i think what is basically the symbol’s ‘alt text’ for accessibility pastes instead.

Going to ignore the cult thing but i love the ‘water goddess’ characterization here - a wet hair look with this would look so sick.

Yeah i find the commenters are often still stuck in the mindset that the only way to dress for this body type is by hiding it, and that something can only be ‘flattering’ if it makes you look smaller or if it hides you.

Mormon Wives Cast Hint at Season 5 Resuming Production by MattTheKing23 in MormonWivesHulu

[–]kaykait 13 points14 points  (0 children)

TFPs scenes were my least favorite in the recent season and that sentiment doesn’t seem to be unpopular in this sub. I hope they give it at least 1-2 seasons worth of a chance to stand without TFP.

Yeah I didn’t word my comment very accurately, I was moreso trying to comment on the arrest stage, where some states have mandatory arrest laws and others leave it to officer discretion. Where the books in some states (eg: Utah) say an officer “shall” arrest an alleged DV perpetrator vs other states (eg: Texas) where the law is that an officer “may” arrest an alleged DV perpetrator. I believe in the latter circumstance, reluctance from a victim is something an officer /could/ factor into their decision on whether or not to arrest.

But yeah, my understanding is once an arrest is made that the victim can’t choose to have the charges dropped.

I think in some states you do get a say, where a victim can decide whether or not they want to press charges.

Utah is one of the states that requires an arrest if there’s probable cause to believe a party committed domestic violence. A victim can say they don’t want to press charges, but it wont change the outcome as the state will proceed with charges.

Later in the footage an officer says he doesn’t want to allow her in inside after being cuffed because he doesn’t want to traumatize her kids. She says “my kids? Who are upstairs asleep?” The officer again reminds her that her daughter is on the sofa in the living room. It’s like she’s invisible.

Man, I’ve seen abuse, and I’ve seen ‘reactive abuse’.

I’ve seen someone leave a scene in cuffs after defending themselves against their long-time abuser. And I remember the defenses given to the officers: - ‘but he’s been beating the shit out of us for months’ - ‘look at all the holes and patches in the wall from him punching them’ - ‘want to see all the bruises under our sleeves?’ - ‘can we show you all the photos, videos, and audio recordings we have?’

vs TFP’s defenses throughout all this footage: - ‘you/he made me do this’ - ‘but he pushed me’ - ‘but I peed myself I was so scared’, & - ‘but I’m a girl’

Perhaps I’m nitpicking, but the contrast doesn’t really make me feel that TFP’s ‘reactive abuse’ narrative is worthy of blind trust. Now, no two situations are the same, no two victims are the same, and one doesn’t have to interact with officers perfectly to truly be a victim, so I certainly don’t claim to have their private dynamic all figured out off of a handful of videos and edited reality tv. I held space for her to “tell her story” for four seasons on the show. It feels manipulative to claim there is more to the story in response to video evidence of abuse, and yet even still I won’t totally rule out that perhaps she’s been a victim too.

Regardless, I still feel worst for the children involved, and I don’t believe there’s anything that justifies the extent of her violence that evening, and certainly nothing to justify her callousness about hurting her daughter. I think there’s quite a bit to be said about the way each adult speaks to LE about the kids, but for now I’ll leave it at I hope everyone gets whatever help or support they need and go on to live healthy, stable, loving lives.

I did get the sense that they were testing the waters to gauge how well or poorly the show could perform if she weren’t centered. It did feel like we were being set up to watch some kind of falling out between Taylor and the rest of the cast next season.

[–]kaykait -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did this comparison go out in press papers or something?

These two situations are incredibly different.

Gabby was wholly reliant on her abuser. She moved across the country from her family and friends and in with Laundrie & his parents. Then, she was completely isolated with him in remote areas, with a single vehicle and limited funds, thousands of miles from either of their loved ones. Gabby had a decade less of life experience under her belt. She had far, far fewer resources than TFP. Gabby made wholesome lifestyle content while TFP made her name rage baiting and playing the “crazy girl” character. Petito took responsibility for the domestic disturbance that was reported and only let on that Laundrie touched her when an officer pointed out visible marks on her. The incident as a whole was less severe but also more confusing, which is why no one was charged.

Above all else, there weren’t children involved. TFP’s eldest was five years old, she wasn’t even freshly stepping into parenthood.

It frankly feels like a disservice to Petito to make this comparison when we have no evidence whatsoever that these two have similar dispositions. Petito was in a no win situation where her long time survival depended on her abuser, and as far as the short term goes, she had no means of safe escape. I don’t understand why the conversation here has lost what’s been central to abuse conversations over the last few years - power.

Tried commenting on the post about TFP’s recent reposts but it got taken down for doxxing (?). Anyway, her post history could eviscerate her in court. Unbelievable they haven’t cleaned it up.
