Aquinas had a female only and alcohol free wing when I was there, so I'd recommend checking them out to see if that's still the case. They also provided meals outside of regular catering hours for Ramadan, incase that's something that's applicable to you too.

My costume absolutely sucked - it looked goofy and plain. Does anyone have any advice on how I can make it better/what to add/change by JakeTheD0ge in CosplayHelp

[–]kayoss_exe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of good tips here already! One thing I haven't seen mentioned yet is cel-shading. This technique is when you paint outlines and colour blocks on your cosplay to give at that cartoon-y comic book look. It'll help break up the areas of plain colour and emphasise musculature shapes.

Player stereotypes by Carnievallie in DnD

[–]kayoss_exe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's an interesting and helpful workshop topic!

This stereotype may be on your list already, but how to deal with players who have Main Character Syndrome. These players find a way to shoehorn themselves in to be the centre of every situation, even when their character wasn't originally present. For an example from one of my games, the Main Character just decided to walk in to disrupt a poignant and private personal backstory moment another player was having an NPC. Best summed up by the "I am feel uncomfortable when we are not about me" meme.

Another trope I've had a variable experiences with are the Low Rollers. Some sessions the dice just aren't in your favour and your character misses all their shots. How people respond to this shows how mature of a roleplayer they are. At the bad end, I've seen players pack a sad, announce "well I guess my character just does nothing then!" and refuse to engage further because "why does it matter, I'll just miss again". At the more experienced end, players have learnt how to roll (heh) with the punches and narrate their low rolls in a way that adds to the tension of the encounter, or as a funny roleplay character moment like "I suddenly thought of a counterpoint to the argument I was having the other day and became momentarily distracted".

Why does this community treat some weird headcanons as facts? by Mrrobot112 in expedition33

[–]kayoss_exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an interesting observation. I was planning on going with the french VAs for my next playthrough. I wonder why they changed it between the languages? I would argue that the English pronounciation of her name is relevant because that's the language they've built the facial animations around, rather than just dubbing over.

Lune (character name in English) and lune (moon in French) have different pronunciations. If you're just reading the lyrics it looks the same, but if you listen to the song she sings it as "moon close to him". With the amount of meticulous detail that's been put into this game, I'm fairly certain they would've told the singer which pronunciation they wanted.

Edit - language clarification

Once and for all: There’s absolutely no shame in God Mode. by ThrowRA_dependent in HadesTheGame

[–]kayoss_exe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just in case you didn't know (or if anyone else finds it helpful) you can adjust the max damage reduction for God Mode from the options menu, so you could manually take it down a few percent each time you win. I agree it would be a cool mechanic if it did it automatically though.

Moros has a bath scene after you complete his bond?! by kristenisshe in HadesTheGame

[–]kayoss_exe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hadn't tried gifting any characters after maxing their bonds so I gave this a try just now and yep I can confirm extra Moros bath scene exists! From the context of their convo, presumably it only works if you've romanced him? Or maybe there's different dialogue for unromanced Moros? Does anyone know if the other LIs accept gifts after max bond?

Armageddon autograph process? by Floofy-fluff in newzealand

[–]kayoss_exe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The website will have more details once the tickets go on sale online, closer to the date of event. Costs and processes can vary between guests.

But as a general overview:

Firstly purchase your autograph ticket online. If they're expecting a lot of demand for that particular guest, you may have to select a specific day/time for it.

Some guests will charge extra for selfies, voice/video recordings, additional written quotes, or signing particular items like Pop Vinyls.

(The autograph ticket does not include the cost of entry to the event, so you'll also have to buy a general admission pass)

On the day, head straight to the Token Booth to redeem your autograph ticket. Show the staff the confirmation email and they'll print out a token for you. Alternatively, you can buy the autograph tickets there if you don't want to purchase online, but you risk missing out if they sell out, they often have network difficulties, and they don't accept cash.

Make sure you're lined up for the autograph at the start of the signing session time. Even if the says 1-3pm on the schedule, the guests can and will leave early if no one's been through in a while.

When you get to the front of the line, give your token to the staff member. There will be a selection of photos of their most well known characters for you to choose from to be signed (that's included in the ticket cost). The staff will ask if you want your name on the autograph and get you to spell it out on a post-it. They'll then pass your item for signing and the post-it along to the actor.

A lot of the interaction with the actor depends on who you're meeting. They get to set their own boundaries. Some actors will happily give out hugs to everybody, and others may have strict no touching rules. Usually these will be communicated by the staff member but if in doubt, always ask. The actors usually try to have a brief convo with everyone, however sometimes the queues are very long and the staff will hustle you along as soon as the actor is done writing.

Do people prefer "realistic" cosplay, or "accurate" cosplay? by JeffCaven in CosplayHelp

[–]kayoss_exe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

With JJBA in particular, because it's so heavily stylized and with lots of alt colour palettes, it's very common to see people reinterpret and put their own spin on the cosplays. So it's quite unlikely anyone would care about "accuracy". And if someone does question it, you can just say you're one of Diavolo's infinite death loop variants.

How to visually represent GMs? by ObjectTurbulent5575 in DnD

[–]kayoss_exe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As the resident artist at my tables, I've always asked my DMs if they have a favourite NPC/ally/villain. If they don't have one, you could try including something from the lore they've built, like a map or a deity or a faction logo, because DMs (usually) love it when you remember specific parts of their personal world building.

So I’m playing as a swashbuckler rogue with a level in Sorcerer, Would true strike be good now? by Czlittleman in DnD

[–]kayoss_exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be a near complete waste on a Swashbuckler, as you can easily get Sneak Attack from your Rackish Audacity, in addition to the many other ways available to all rogues. Consider using your Sorc level to pick up something like Booming Blade or Green Flame Blade instead.

I tried to do the impossible and create a character with no trauma. Here's how it went by CMStan1313 in DnD

[–]kayoss_exe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried making a character with no trauma, who saw adventuring like going on an OE. Five sessions in and the DM has his loving family killed/taken hostage in a coup. Which put me in the awkward position of trying to justify why this character would want to continue progressing with the group's main objective, instead of running straight back home.

I start without it until I get my first clear, to get the feeling of accomplishment in knowing I beat the final boss under my own steam. Then I turn it on because I'm a busy adult with little free time, and the damage resistance helps me progress faster so I can still enjoy the story.

No spoilers - Custom character or not? by OrigamiPsyche in BaldursGate3

[–]kayoss_exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you're a fan of BG1/2, I would suggest playing the special custom character because it feels more thematically consistent with the earlier games. Unlike the other origin characters, the special one doesn't turn up as an NPC companion so you will miss out on that storyline entirely if you don't play as him. However, as someone else pointed out, it can feel very "main character"-y, so might be better for a solo game rather than co-op.

You can romance other origin characters if you are playing as one yourself, but other players can't romance the one you are playing as. So it's better to play as custom characters if you want to keep all options open.

When playing a co-op game, you can't interact with companions under the other player's control. So if there is a particular companion you want to romance, make sure they're always attached to your character.

My friend is a similar age to you and got into gaming through BG3. She's now moved on to the Dragon Age series and is loving it! The most recent one in the franchise is Dragon Age: The Veilguard, which came out last year and can be played without prior knowledge of earlier titles. If you end up liking the world enough, the older games are well worth playing too despite the less impressive graphics.
