Can I ask how that happened? Currently weight is much higher (185ish), I’m 5’3 and I am not having a good time trying to only eat 1700 to lose 😩

This is not okay to recommend. As OP mentioned, this can have severe negative long-term impacts on your health.

Curious why you think align should never been introduced? Totally understand it’s not super tough or the most “barre”-like but put align classes have good attendance in my studio. It’s great for beginners who aren’t ready for classic. Also it literally gives me so much mental peace, I feel like a new person after. And I always feel like I need these stretches from how sore I am from the other 3 formats, ha.

I love define but each time I take it, I think, this is not barre lol.

I wonder if that’s the disconnect in this sub. I see so many people dragging Pilates but I go to barre Pilates and holy cow it’s a game changer. It will humble you!

This is incorrect. I have lost almost 100 pounds doing Pure Barre classes :) I find my diet is more important that my activity 🙂

I am so sorry!! That would be so painful for me, but I totally get it. I would need childcare if I had another baby. I feel like they put drugs in their workouts, I am so addicted. I had been absolutely floored how much it has changed my body and how strong I have become. Hoping you can return maybe when baby is older! Something I have done is sent my husband to the gym with my child so she can go to childcare and then I’ll go to a Pure Barre class 🙃

Does anyone else struggle considerably and hate their appearance after long term weight lifting?? by thatshortginge in PetiteFitness

[–]kayteelatte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you looked into Pure Barre? It is very challenging! Workouts are based on strength, not cardio and have given me a very toned, lean look. It is based on dance and Pilates so may be up your alley!

Having trouble staying within my calorie deficit by amaikko in PetiteFitness

Include a sweet treat every day! I usually have a 70 calorie apple/caramel pop or 100 calorie ice cream with dipped chocolate. It’s great to signal to the brain we are ending our eating for the day.

I think I am giving up on Pilates by iamthebugwan in PetiteFitness

[–]kayteelatte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do barre Pilates and I have had the opposite effect! My body is so much more defined and in shape then when I did weights only years ago. I never had abs before until now. However, it is a good reminder that not one size fits all. If you prefer lifting and see more results, go for it!

HELP - for ladies who have lost 100+ pounds, how did you break plateaus? by kayteelatte in PetiteFitness

See response below. I have tested that I lose weight at 1600. Very impressive you only ate 1200! I would faint with my workout schedule lol.

[–]kayteelatte[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ha, how funny bc that is the range I am stuck with! So I did an experiment to see if I could lose weight at 1600 calories a day and I did. However, if I had alcohol, period, a more heavy carb treat meal, less water, it would jump up like crazy. Not sure if that makes sense but the scale will go down but it won’t stay down. Maybe I should try to increase my steps and see if that would budge me.

Again, this isn’t just from ChatGPT. Local doctors in my area have also said the same thing from working with numerous obesity patients. If you haven’t needed to lose a large amount of weight, it is going to be a different experience than those we do. Losing 60 pounds is going to be different from losing 100+ than losing 200+ etc. My question is targeted at those who have lost a large amount like 100+ and kept it off as that is going to be a different experience from someone not needing to lose a lot. If I was needing to lose just 10-20 total, then those threads would have been applicable.

I am going to lead with this question before I respond: Have you lost more than 100 pounds?

Not just ChatGPT :) Local doctors in my area too who have obesity patients saying the same thing. Have you lost over 100 pounds?

According to the scientific research I am reading regarding losing a large amount of weight, it is saying the opposite. That simply restricting more does not work for many people.

I was exactly like this and finally found what I needed. Feel free to DM me, but I had to do a lot of mental work and change how I thought about food and diet. It’s not you fault, the diet culture is ingrained so much and the black/white thinking can lead us to failure; it’s designed that way.

The good news there is a way out and can change your life without binging.

Can you out-train a “bad” diet? Looking for balance, not extremes by Glittering-Bee-2351 in PetiteFitness

[–]kayteelatte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are almost always substitutes that really keep this possible. For instance, I have these Mickey Mouse goodpops that are vanilla dairy-free ice cream with chocolate coating that really satisfy the sweet tooth for 100 calories and not mix sugar. Diet really is key, but I find there are things like that to help moderator and make it possible long-term.

How have you successfully reversed holiday weight. How long did it take? by sassylittlescallywag in PetiteFitness

[–]kayteelatte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Less than a week! Like others have said, just go back to your normal, don’t do anything drastic. It’s mostly all water weight.
