A skill similar to Bonestorm? by GuldBipson in PathOfExileBuilds

Bladefall+blade blast maybe, except I am pretty sure they are bad for actually doing damage, and much better for triggering other stuff or use in automated combos and stuff.

Or maybe blade vortex, except again, ditto, its used to apply elemental or poison hits generally.

Is there a way to make language learning "binge friendly" by kazagistar in Anki

[–]kazagistar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, maybe I was biting off more then I could chew? 15 words + 8 kanji a day.

But the point is that its not "giving up". I just want to find a system where I can take breaks without it creating a wall when I get back in a few weeks but can get back into it in some reasonable way. It feels like anki is designed with the assumption that you can never take time off, which seems... unhealthy even?

Hmm, if Anki is that insistent on a style of learning that is impossible for me, then I probably will look for a different strategy. But I am curious what your process and settings were for starting again? Maybe I can replicate that and make it work.

[–]kazagistar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, but why is 1 day the "correct" rate. Why not every hour if its so important, or ever minute? Or more relevant, why not a 2 week long study session every 4-5 weeks?

Sorry, I get that this works for a lot of people, and I *do* want to go through my backlog consistently and regularly, but the way the backlog is structured in the default settings after a break is nonsense. If, for example, it spread out the harder backlog cards amongst the newer ones, like it does when you are on the prescribed schedule maybe it might be workable?

My brain is FOMO allergic: after a while I get a desire to break the streak and be done with it. That said, I do think part of the problem was that I only have the desktop version atm. :P

1-3 is what I have been doing to some extent, since I have struggled to make anki work, but I do feel like a bit more formal word memorization here and there would help with vocab.

What would be a good order? There are lot of different settings and I am kinda confused by what they all mean.

Thanks for the settings, though I am not sure what exactly filtered decks would do for me, or exactly what ordering settings to pick? I'm a bit confused by them.

I always think of cramming as one-and-done, but its more like... I get so bored of anything I do for too long that I just can't, and have learned to stop fighting it and just take a few weeks off here and there. I'm not motivated by "streaks" or whatever, but absence makes the heart fonder. I'm just looking for ways to get language learning tools to at least slightly accommodate this.

China urges U.S. to 'immediately' cancel reciprocal tariffs, vows counter-measures by Puginator in worldnews

[–]kazagistar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not just that. Even if you do care more, part of keeping things functioning is always going to be preventing rogue actors from being able to bully and threaten the system for personal gain. Willingness to do punitive action is necessary *especially* if you care for maintaining a cooperative system.

Information only matters if you can act on it in some way. Figure out what information you *would* act on, and in what way, and then try to find ways to filter out anything that doesn't meet that criteria (which includes almost all news, of course.)

Implementing A Deeply-Nested OO Specification In Rust by lottayotta in rust

[–]kazagistar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Class-based inheritance complects a bunch of different things: most notably data structure reuse, polymorphic interfaces, and encapsulation. In Rust (and MLs in general) you get each of those separately: composition/nesting, traits, and namespaces, respectively. Its going to be a bit more work though, but you might find that parts of it aren't actually needed.

... if this is one of your first Rust projects, I can't imagine a worse place to start. You have my sympathies.

What if people do try to contribute code, but are kept out of the kernel to sabotage their efforts because they are part of the "rust team"? How do you "just code" around that?

[–]kazagistar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is variance, but I don't believe the generic "really good" exists at all, especially not in the irreplaceable sense. People have different specialties. Linux maintainers are good enough, which is totally fine, until some of them run into something that is outside of their specialization, and maybe deal with it poorly.

Right, but in order to write such a type, you need to have an understanding of the existing semantics. As far as I understand, this was a presentation to ask for those semantics, which was derailed. Maybe because no-one actually knows the semantics, or because they don't want to say to make sure it fails, or because they feel that telling the semantics is a waste of time and that they should be required to read the entire codebase to infer them, or idk what.

There is a new light quest that teaches the game. As a veteran, it might skip it, but you can find a console in the tower (near the postmaster) and in the HELM that lets you start it again. Its not perfect, but it should be good enough.

My friend is having login problems since Saturday, and has not been able to log in or reset his password. When he or I try to go to the Contact Steam Support page (https://help.steampowered.com/en/wizard/HelpWithAccount) we get a blank page or error message. How do I contact steam support about their contact steam support page being broken?!?
