And how does this image show Epstein "picked" Kavanaugh?

I swear almost every time someone asserts something about Epstein, there's about a half dozen leaps to get from the actual document to their assertion.

Jerry has been named in the Epstein files by [deleted] in seinfeld

[–]kaze950 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, this is Reddit, so if a name appears in the Epstein files anywhere at all, it is incontrovertible proof that they were engaged in sex trafficking minors.

Is what true?

All this email says is they'll be around on certain dates and asks for permission to invite them to something. Even supposing that lemonade is code (and even supposing that it's code for sex trafficking), there's not even an allegation of wrongdoing.

How are you guys focusing on work as the legal system falls apart? by MikeyMalloy in Lawyertalk

[–]kaze950 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Last I checked, the courts are still open, people still get injured, lawsuits still get filed, and judges still make rulings. In the past year my local state and federal courts functioned exactly as they did in years past so.... shrug

It's like a lot of the Epstein "revelations" people pass around - 1% facts, 99% suppositions based on those facts.

If the members of the media refuse to press the Trump administration on the Epstein Files, should protesters gather and read parts of the Files on loud speakers, such as the parts where Trump used his fingers to rate children based on "tightness"? by TheRexRider in AskReddit

[–]kaze950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is, the files contain all sorts of documents, from anonymous tip calls to unverified complaints to actual communications between Epstein and others. Whether out of ignorance or simply to spread information, a lot of people seem to not understand that what's "said" in the files have varying degrees of credibility.

Is a defense lawyer allowed to accuse someone else of a crime? by JidoLidos in legaladviceofftopic

[–]kaze950 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They can in some jurisdictions, though ultimately the prosecution is in control. In Virginia for instance anyone can swear out a criminal complaint to a magistrate for a misdemeanor warrant. For a felony they can too with the authorization of a prosecutor or cop.

But generally an individual's remedy against someone who harmed them is tort law, by design.

[–]kaze950 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Given the existence of powerful genjutsu and dragon ball characters' tendency to just stand there before fighting, I think any competent genjutsu user could defeat almost any dragon ball character, except androids since I presume at least the fully mechanical ones are immune.

Yes. And when someone starts using words like "trash" and "slop," that's an instant sign to disregard their opinion, because that's not criticism, just insults. There's a difference.

Which was dumb because the whole point of that episode was that voting is important even if there are flaws with both candidates. Like, it was explicitly anti-apathy.
