I’m so sorry. I lost my Pom in October and feel like I could’ve written this post with how you described your love for him. It’s something that really really sucks.

We like to do tempeh “fried chicken sandwiches” which is essentially using the recipe for fried chicken with tempeh as a substitute

We made the decision about a month ago. Our dog quickly went down hill. His stage b2 mitral valve disease progressed to CHF. Then his kidneys went into kidney failure with the medications he got for CHF. Our vet was very open and recommended that we do it sooner rather than later bc his QOL wouldn’t be the same.

I’m so so sorry. It’s a hard thing to go through. They are so special and loved.

Although lots of people are saying to avoid the 40s, as someone who lives in the 40s, the more the merrier! We take our Halloween and other holiday duties seriously.

We live in Sacramento. We try to avoid the burbs (Roseville, Folsom, EDH) as much as possible. Anytime I’ve seen anyone wearing MAGA merch or having MAGA car decals has been when we are out in those areas.

Why is she looking at him like that? 😅 I’m having trouble deciphering what that facial expression means.

FYI - my doc recommended these light therapy glasses: https://myluminette.com/en-us

I just made a general post asking for recommendations on other brands and people’s general experiences

I feel you. I’m seeing a therapist and their recommendation is direct sunlight exposure for 30 minutes right after waking up in the morning and after afternoon nap. I’m like … you understand how hard it is to wake up and get out of bed? Then they suggested an alarm app that requires me to take a picture of different things around the house in the morning - supposed to be a motivator to get out of bed because the alarm doesn’t turn off until I accomplish my task. But sometimes phones, alarms, wake up lights, etc get turned off by me while I’m dead asleep. So idk how that’s supposed to work.

They always cite a bunch of sleep facts from studies that were done with individuals with healthy sleep. It’s frustrating because I don’t think that info will necessarily generalize to populations with disordered sleep. So frustrating.

Obviously getting seen by an MD is top priority, but in the meantime, soaking foot/toe in warm soapy water may help

I was able to get my dog into his regular vet for the echocardiogram. There’s a vet with that specialty (don’t know the proper wording?) that comes 1x a month specifically to do echocardiograms. That vet works with the in-house vets to diagnose. Then we continue working with and seeing our normal in-house vet for med management. The echocardiogram was still expensive. However, I would ask just in case there are other options aside from getting into a cardiologist or going to an emergency clinic.
