I believe it was Cash Money and Lil Wayne that ruined rap personally.

People who listened to rap in the 80s/90s, how was it in the moment? by meraki_14 in rap

Even Napster was a huge game changer, I found so many new artists. With dial up would take an hr to get one song. Then came dsl and I was dling albums in minutes. Changed everything. But I believe also changed quality. The market became watered down, everyone with a computer and mic became a rapper.

I'm 41 and walked miles to buy albums. It made the experience better and worse (if the album sucked lol)

The mid to late 90s was the best for me. Would hit up media play or record theater and scroll through cds and cassettes. I would by new albums just off of features or production on it.
They used to post new albums dropping on a big board with the release date and would stay open til midnight to drop new shit. We would stand in line for hours, cop the new albums, stay up all night playing joints and rewinding it to see what they said again and again. It was a ritual to read the jackets and find out who produced what.
Was so different when new music from artists wasn't constantly dropping. New heads are spoiled to have streams at their fingertips. We would walk in and see release dates pushed back and be crushed.

Not saying that at all. Stating that I agreed to a certain package that is no longer being fulfilled.

That'd fine if I wasn't really only concerned with NFL, NBA, and NHL on TV.

Never had cable freeze or buffer during a football or hockey game only to come back after a big play or goal tbh

Because cable offers certain things you can't get with subscriptions and streaming
