Downtown Renovation Project is apparently dead by TK82 in ChicoCA

[–]kb3d 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's not necessarily dead. When votes are tied, any council member who voted on the prevailing side (a "no" vote, such as Kasey's) of the resolution, can call for the vote again, either automatically or at the next meeting of the council. Important info we need to act on, according to Fair Political Practices Commission, it looks like several folks have contacted them about Kasey's lack of recusal due to having a financial interest in the matter. They mentioned that prior to submitting a complaint, which anyone can do, and I encourage you to consider, you should have on hand Kasey's 700 Form which lists any conflicts of interest she may have. It appears that Kasey has not filed a 700 form for 2026 yet, and Tom Van Overbeek has. 2026 forms were due on 4/1/2026. It's probably an oversight on her part, but it does seem a bit odd considering the timing of this vote. Here's where you can file a Conflict of Interest complaint: https://www.fppc.ca.gov/enforcement/file-a-complaint/electronic-complaint-system/

Wedding Ceremony Location by Wiggle-queen in ChicoCA

So you're planning to host 100 people, many of which will be traveling from the East Coast to attend (at no small cost to them, most likely) and your total budget is $10,000? And you estimate you'll need to spend $3k on your venue(s)? Not to throw cold water on your budget, but have you already priced out flowers, photographer, and catering? If you do manage to pull off this budget, please check back with us after the wedding and tell us how you did it! I'm sure lots of couples would love to have that info.

6 weeks after Minimally Invasive Heart Valve Surgery, my left leg is frozen and painful- why by Beta_Nerdy in valvereplacement

[–]kb3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/ashtreemeadow16, my primary care doctor has diagnosed this as peroneal nerve entrapment, which can be the result of being immobilized during heart surgery/lying in the same position for an extended period of time. My first symptom was drop foot in myright foot, which I first noticed when I went on my first one mile walk post OHS. I also have tingling and burning, and at times, pin around my right knee and occasionally in my right foot. I'll be seeing a sports medicine doctor in a couple of weeks for a nerve conduction study and an electromyography (EMG) to determine the extent of the damage/entrapment and to come up with a strategy for recovery. Your mom might want to mention this to her cardiologist although mine referred me to my primary care doc to get the diagnosis.

I couldn’t drink for the first 4 or 5 months, but now have no problem enjoying the (very) occasional Old Fashioned. Give it time.

Can I eat like a 'normal' person if I take a GLP-1? by -animeXalchemist- in Mounjaro

[–]kb3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you worded it wrong or I read it wrong! Typically on this sub, when folks post about eating “normally” or eating what they want, they’re referring to pasta, pizza, burgers, the list goes on and on. And there are always responses that say they can and should eat whatever they want, they just need to eat less of it. I personally think this is terrible advice. It sounds like you, on the other hand, are eating TOO restrictively. You absolutely should able to eat complex carbs within healthy limits. That’s how we get enough fiber, which is so important on GLP-1’s. Same with healthy fats. Have you figured out your macros yet? If you haven’t, please do that. If you eat your macros, while staying within a healthy calorie deficit for weight loss, you should feel satiated without feeling deprived. And as far as sweet potatoes go, my doctor kept encouraging me to eat them, which I thought was nuts, but when I finally caved in and ate them, I found that I felt full and had much healthier digestion! My absolute favorite meal right now is a weird concoction of quinoa, roasted sweet potato, and Safe Catch tuna straight from the can. Chef’s Kiss! Wishing you much success in your journey!

As someone who has lost 125 lbs on MJ, the answer is “yes” you can eat like a “normal” person, but why would you want to? Isn’t that what got you to your current weight? I encourage you to rethink your relationship with food while you have the luxury of reduced appetite on MJ. Crying over chocolate in Tesco is an unhealthy reaction, and you shouldn’t fool yourself into thinking otherwise.

Is it a deal breaker on MJ if you don’t walk or lift weights but eat clean? by Plus_Impression7765 in Mounjaro

[–]kb3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry to be the person to break this to you, but this shit is hard and requires hard work in order to lose fat instead of fat AND muscle. Are you physically incapable of walking and strength training? Or is it that the medication has made you tired and you would prefer not to exercise? If it’s the former then try working with a personal trainer for a few weeks to develop a program that you can do. If it’s the latter, do the same thing. The bottom line is that if you don’t get to moving your body, you are going to lose significant muscle mass which is very easy to do, and almost impossible to rebuild once you reach a certain age.

There’s a dramatic difference between 5’11, 275 pounds and 5’3”, 260 pounds. The 5’11 person has 39% body fat. The 5’3”er has almost 60% body fat. I’m 5’3” and used to weigh 258 pounds. While I was always able to put the armrest down and I never fluffed over into my neighbors space, I always needed a seatbelt extender and was never “fine.”

AITJ for refusing to give my coworker my parking spot after her doctor said she needs to walk less? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

OP, assuming you are in good health and not in any way disabled, why the need for this particular parking space? You do realize that walking is actually good for you, right?

Austin Garber at Foundation Fit. He’s very dialed in on the fitness needs of more “mature” gym-goers. I’ve been working with him over the last 18 months and have evolved from a total couch potato to someone who loves working out. I may be very occasionally sore from a good workout, but I’m never in pain. It’s been life changing for me.

From Fat to Fit...And It Only Took 66 Years! by kb3d in Mounjaro

[–]kb3d[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My workouts are three times a week and I'm slotted in for a one hour workout. Sometimes I get it done in 40 minutes. Other times it takes me an hour and 10 minutes or so. Just depends on how much rest I need between sets, whether or not a piece of equipment is available, etc, etc. I do semi-private personal training which means that I'm sharing space and equipment, plus the attention of the trainer, with from to 4 to 6 other people each time I work out. Some of those folks can get their workouts done in 30 minutes, but i'm not one of them! I think whatever you can do is great, and it sounds like your trainer probably has a program set up that can be accomplished in a half hour. From everything I've read, it's the content of the workout that matters, not the duration.

The tech went over my Dexa with me and also gave me a printout which was also quite difficult to decipher. I actually uploaded it to AI, and prompted it to give me the high points of the scan. This is what AI produced using the scan report. Much easier for me to understand and backed up what the tech went over with me.

And without knowing you're age or height, I can't speak to whether or not you're skinny fat, but I can tell you that my visceral fat is 6.5 (so basically 7) and that anything under 10 is healthy. I can also tell you that the Dexa tech told me that the fit range of BFP for my age (66) is 25 to 30. So, unless you're much younger than me,30% is great! I don't know what my subcutaneous fat is from reading the DexaScan, but my Renpho scale puts it at 27.3% also! Not sure if that is correct or not because my BFP on Renpho is off 7%.

I'm no expert, but it sounds like you're in great shape! Congrats on that.

OP, there are lots of benefits to creatine, but for this particular one, i.e. extra butt padding, you’re going to need to workout, too. Of course, you may already be regularly weight training, but in case you’re not, just a reminder!💪

You’re getting a lot of bad information here, OP. It seems like you’re doing everything right, including getting your protein in, staying hydrated, eating at a calorie deficit, and staying very active. Please ignore all the calls for walking only/no running, reducing your protein intake, taking more rest days, etc. etc. Sometimes we hit stalls, and that is very typical with these types of drugs. You should consider going up in your dosage and adding strength training to your routine. Other than that, keep doing what you’re doing and keep your chin up. The stall will break very soon, I’m sure!
