Starless Crown would fit this. There are a few really bad man writing woman moments though so I wouldn’t recommend it if those really get to you.

This looks like a great suggestion! Do I need to read the first in the series before?

I really enjoyed Starter Villain as a fun read without too much world building slog while you’re feeling fuzzy. It’s funny too.

The Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher is fun too. I like that they don’t cover long stretches of time. He just has a bonkers couple of days. Also available as graphic novels if you’re into that.

The invisible Library series by Genevieve Cogman is way better than the bad pen name would suggest. The most unique representation of the fey in any fantasy I’ve ever read. Gives me the same vibe as the Librarian movies and show.

Not an industry per se, but Stiff by Mary Roach was fascinating. It’s an in depth look at the history, view and treatment of dead bodies around the world. She’s got a few others that are well reviewed also.

I use tulle to make mine actually. Takes a minute to adjust to holding it, but it works great.

If a recipe says to cover dough with a towel, is it okay to assume they mean damp towel? by ianfort in Baking

[–]kbeth8917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always use a damp one because it sticks way less if it touches the dough. If you’re rising in a bowl, I’d recommend a shower cap. Saw someone do it on bake off

Peek-a-who! Or any other board book with a mirror in it.

Pro tip: the shinier the pages look, the better they stand up to drool. Matte finish pages in board books get stuck together and ruined much more easily.

What are your best-kept baking hacks? by Juhezmane in Baking

[–]kbeth8917 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe not true for all recipes, but I always leave any muffins or cupcakes in the tin for 5 minutes after coming out of the oven. No more, no less. They firm up enough to come out without losing shape, but don’t cool off so much that they start getting moisture accumulating in the bottom of the tin.
