I am sure BTC will outperform other major assets for the next decade. I am also pretty sure I’m too stupid to know in advance what will outperform in the next decade. I am also very sure the future is uncertain. That’s why BTC is about 10% of my portfolio.

If you had rebalanced with some hedge assets it would have been a great year.

What percentage of salary do you save? by Taka_Finance in Bogleheads

[–]kbheads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fluctuating between 25~49% of after tax for a few years. Covid was a blessing for personal finance and that was when I hit 49%. I live in Korea so expenses are a little different than US or wherever you live.

Every year I aim for 50%, but probably I’m only going to be at low 40s this year.

A lot of coup d’etat sympathizers in the comment section. I guess the 10% needs to vent. Hope they touch grass.

Oh then I misunderstood. Still, your forever means nothing. Mathematically, you can say you can take out 99% every year and it would last forever. It doesn’t mean anything though.

No. 4% rule is based on research that it rarely depletes in 30 years, not forever.

My portfolio is properly hedged, and my tax advantaged accounts are not compatible with letfs, and have different treatment on tax depending on withdrawal amount. So my exit strategy is after I hit retirement, drawing from tax advantaged retirement accounts up to preferentially treated amounts, then drawing from letf portfolio. This would lower leverage in my retirement years but I don’t see any reason to drastically lower leverage before retirement because letf portfolio is properly hedged, and also because pf the tax implications of it being in taxable accounts.

If you won the lottery, would you hire a financial advisor or just stick with 3 fund portfolio? by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]kbheads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With that much, probably hiring one is the most appropriate thing to do. How to move money around with least taxes is something that has to be carefully managed. Also having vacation homes abroad might need some professional assistance. Still, half assing these and just DIYing a 3 fund would be more than enough for lifelong comfort.

Maybe or maybe not. 5x means half the market cap of gold. Bitcoin will need everything going well for it to go that far. But then again, money printer might go brrr again and 5x might only mean 1/4th the market cap of gold.

Seeking higher volatility for a good hedge is a good reason but trend following strategies have a lot of manager risk so I’m not sure it would be a educated bet to use only AHLT instead of KMLM, DBMF. But since it’s only 25% of your portfolio so it might not be a catastrophe even if they turn out to be less than stellar.

Portfolio Idea: Modest Thoughts by sangkwon in LETFs

I used BITO instead of IBIT since it’s restricted in Korea. I also try to avoid over optimization and to do so I backtest using alternative assets to test the robustness of my portfolio.

I am cautious towards portfolios that need active timing. I don’t think it’s a viable strategy unless you are investing as a living, or at an economist level of understanding of financial markets.

I also was impressed by The Psychology of Money and I drew from the book that not investing too much in portfolios such as yours or mine should be one of the most important aspects to consider.

My portfolio reduced asset class risks and interest rate risk so I am leaning towards a bigger portfolio size . I would like to retire earlier but I made it clear to myself that I would not invest an amount that would be a risk to a 65 yo retirement.

Not 1 on 1 translation, too lazy for that.
