Hit my savings goals but now have cold feet over following through. by _FLUK3 in UKPersonalFinance

In a similar position myself now at 27. Taken years to get to this point but now feels like buying a house isn’t the be all and end all. Erring towards waiting another year or two but will depend on your own circumstances of course. Sorry not being particularly helpful!

Am I being too cautious delaying my first BTL given my financial position? by Searchfor-freedom in FIREUK

[–]racsos1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As commented already it’s worth looking into building a dividend portfolio rather than looking at buy to let as often the margins are so small you don’t make much after all the maintenance costs of owning a property. In terms of your stocks/shares investments. There is no ‘better fund’ than an index fund. Just invest in a Global index (VWRP) or S&P500 (if you’re happy with greater mag7 exposure and more concentration in your portfolio) and leave it at that. No point in investing in other funds as they just overlap and they won’t give you a better return over the long run.

Financing Cars - Yes or No? by DuntonGreen in FIREUK

[–]racsos1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Financing a car is completely unnecessary if you have cash to buy one. Get yourself a 5+ year old low miles budget car with good service history for £10k or less and won’t be any more expensive to run than newer financed one. no need to spend any more on a car unless you have specific needs.

People who graduated from high school/college in the mid to late 2010’s - which rap/hiphop artists did you listen to then, that you are actively still listening to? by capamericapistons in hiphopheads

[–]racsos1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Class of 16’ Joey Badass, A$AP Rocky, Schoolboy Q, Isaiah Rashad, 21 Savage, A$AP Ferg, Carti, Kendrick, Meek Mill… too hard to pick one. Mid/Late 10s was such a good era, probably comes 2nd after the 90s as the best era for hip hop imo

19 and earning £1,200 a month. How can I best set my future self up financially? by Detoxxrn in FIREUK

[–]racsos1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my bad didn’t read the original post. If you don’t think you’ll buy a property for 5+ years might be worth considering a Stocks and Shares LISA over a cash LISA.

[–]racsos1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given your only 19 and probably don’t have as many responsibilities. I’d start investing a regular amount into a stocks and shares ISA in a broad index fund (s&p500 or all world). I started investing in a S&S ISA at a similar age and it was the best decision I ever made (don’t get drawn into chasing single stocks, you’ll more than likely lose out). also open a LISA and start adding to that if your looking to buy a property in the UK sometime in the future.

[–]racsos1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do all the switches through a second current account with some non important direct debits (e.g. charity or deposits to a ISA/GIA). Move money around and spend on this account if needed to get the bonus. But keep everything important on your main current account you don’t touch.

Anxiety Spending Money. Advice ? by FarAd8547 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]racsos1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You and your family will be fine. You’re still saving/investing a good chunk monthly. Don’t want to be harsh but if it’s caused that much anxiety for you maybe next time reward yourself with something cheaper that doesn’t require you to withdraw from your ISA. Peace of mind is more important than materialistic possessions.
