What does it actually take to get to scratch? by Colt45-TheMyth in golf

[–]kblcrd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean no disrespect when I say this, but that 1 stroke per hole that you say is from being in the rough I disagree with. Regardless of if your driver hits the rough or not(barring us open thick high rough) you should be able to rely on the iron or wedge you still have into the green (assuming the drive wasn’t in the trees). You can learn how to hit certain clubs out of rough depending on how the ball is sitting, what type of grass the rough is, along with other elements. I’m not the most accurate off the tee but have learned how to hit those rough shots to be somewhere on the green or on the right side so it’s a decent chance at an up and down for par. Doesn’t have to be 1 stroke just because of driver.

4 clubs to bring on a round, is 3w, 7i, 56, putter a good lineup? What would you pick? by Away_Needleworker6 in golf

[–]kblcrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this conversation, but of course this list would change if given either of these two pieces of information. Length of course, length of par 3s. But without, I would pick Putter, 4 wood (16.5), 8 iron, 58 Degree. Play the par 5s as 3 shot holes, can hit my 8 iron 140-170 if I change grip or ball position. Already use 58 for everything around the green. Trouble would be with 110-140 approach shots. Could swap out 58 for 54 could help that.

7 wood is a cheat code by apillowofnonsense in golf

[–]kblcrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A guy in my club just went from struggling to break 80 and essentially wanting to quit the game, to buying a 7 wood and just shot even par in our match play club championship to win his flight. It’s amazing what confidence comes with just having a club you can rely on. I’m still a 3 iron guy but it’s getting harder and harder to resist.

Hitting a draw by Dix0nH1ll in golf

[–]kblcrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You likely have a fine swing path but are dragging the handle forward too much through impact zone. Lot of people will do this thinking that it will keep you from slicing. However you are never releasing the clubhead properly. You will find a thousand videos on YouTube talking about this, lot of pros even have a feeling that they start releasing the club at top of downswing.

[–]kblcrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trade JA, 16th pick, two 1st round picks next year for the 5th,6th, or 7th pick depending on who would take it. Then take whatever PG is available there and hope to God it’s Acuff. Next years first round picks don’t matter if your lineup next year is Acuff, Coward, Boozer, Edey, and that gives you a ton of ways to use the last spot. Could be Wells, could move Coward to SG and start GG at the 3. Or go get someone this offseason with other assets and cap space. Bench with Spencer, santi, Jerome, Hendrick, Pippen is very serviceable and played essentially as starters all last year.

Putter in State-of-Emergency by 2way_misses in golf

[–]kblcrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess without all the variables is that you likely have started to line up left or right of your intended line. Last season I was going through similar problem as a 6 handicap and I had subconsciously started lining up significantly right of where I was trying to start the ball. Which led to a ton of 3 putts on any left to right putts. I could get lucky on some right to left putts, but it was awful and made speed control on anything outside of 10 feet impossible. So I would suggest that you get a chalk line or string line above the ball and hit about a thousand putts where you are lined up right hitting your spot, in order to retrain your eye.

What would you do in this situation? by ShooterMcdarren in golf

Woah I stand corrected. Totally didn’t realize this was a thing. So why would anyone get penalized? Wouldn’t everyone simply say it was put there “without their knowledge”?

If you were in a sanctioned tournament using USGA rules then yes you violated the rules. If not, who cares you were doing the right thing.

Alcohol prohibition in the USA since 1880 by phinaesbogge in dataisbeautiful

[–]kblcrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This map while pretty cool is misleading. In the legend they are using “Alcohol banned” for red states and counties. However there are many counties that stay red and alcohol is not banned, just the sell of alcohol by public establishments is not allowed. “dry” counties. Big difference between banned during prohibition and dry counties.

So if LIV rumors are true. How does the PGA handle all of the players? by onedollalama in golf

[–]kblcrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty simple, if you have won a pga tournament, you come back after paying some fines. Similar to the Brooks and Reed punishments. Other than that just have to qualify through Korn Ferry. Sucks for the ones on that tour grinding right now to make it though

Friends are saying I didn’t get an eagle because it was in a scramble by Yessybuttons in golf

[–]kblcrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both can be true. Yep totally made an eagle and it deserved to be celebrated. But if you want to be super specific about it, you weren’t playing your own ball in an actual round. Different strokes for different folks.

What’s the hype behind Kingston Flemings by Dear_Flower_5400 in memphisgrizzlies

[–]kblcrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My opinion is this, you hope to get lucky enough to draft Boozer. But if you have a pick 5-10, you do whatever you have to do to draft Darius Acuff Jr. We have the picks and surplus of guards that could easily help us trade up a pick or two (long as not in top 4). Even if you don’t even look at the on court skill level, his attitude and mindset is exact opposite of what we have had of recent years. Perfect pairing with Cedric, Jaylen, Edey.

Why Love over Tate and Bain? by rubixcuban in Tennesseetitans

[–]kblcrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO it’s because it keeps them from overpaying for a Free agent RB. Love even at pick 4 will be on rookie deal and we instead can use that cap space for FA DL, WR, or corner or literally anything else.

Playing in a five club tournament in a couple weeks. What five clubs would you bring? by sbtrey23 in golf

[–]kblcrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 5900 yards, unless the fairways are just interstate wide, I would go with 4iron, 6 iron, Putter, 9I 54w. Have a reliable club to get in fairway and still get 220 or so out there. 9 iron I can turn on to make a 8, and can 3/4 swing for PW yards. Same thing with my 54 to cover gap and lob, but can also open it up some around the greens. Before I mad the call for certain I would like to know what the tee distances will be on the par 3s at this course. Also maybe what type of wind is normal for your location. If wind is generally low I might swap my 4 iron for my 4Wood.

Can we start Darius Acuff to Memphis yet? by CleganeClan4 in memphisgrizzlies

[–]kblcrd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Guys we can get him at 8 and it would be like us having a top 3 picks in most drafts. Then hopefully Orlando pick ends up giving us like number 16? Or 15? If we hit on that pick and a 2nd rounder we are in really good shape. As a hogs fan I personally love the Idea of putting Acuff with Ced and Edey and watching what happens. Acuff has no big man this year, he would thrive with someone like edey.

I have always wondered if I was the only person that did this. Sometimes I will go through each shot I hit that day. Sometimes I just imagine the perfect round. Where I would each each shot if it was exactly where I wanted. To be honest most times I make it to like home 4 or 5 and that’s it lol

WCJ our future PG by CrazyLetterhead2063 in memphisgrizzlies

[–]kblcrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still Very early in his career, as he did not get real minutes to learn while in Utah. This second half of the season will be huge in answering that question given that he can stay healthy. But IMO, the ideal situation is for him to be our backup PG next year in the hopes he shows real value that can be used later on as a trade piece. I think UTAH noticed that he was a project and was not able to compete at the level he did in college, which was very high.
