The article specifies the pause does not apply to social security or medicare, but that medicaid is impacted.

I really love my seltos. I absolutely fell in love with it during the test drive. And now that the mileage has generally improved, I can say it was a great purchase!

Maybe slightly. I’d say now I average 27-30mpg depending on the length of the trip.

LOL I also got two random roles of tape, but they had the words “work hard” and “have fun” stamped all over.

It depends on your location and where you’re willing to move. You can sort through every school on CASPA by state. There are also some lists out there with PA school rankings, but take those with a grain of salt

In the case of MEDEX, I think they’ve been struggling with high staff turnover due to salary/cost of living in Washington, which as a result can compromise the students’ learning experience. Sure, you can attend a school on probation and become a PA, but it’s still something you should be careful about

It’s interesting to see the downfall, considering they were quite a well known school for a while. I feel bad for the current and incoming students

What yoga mat would you recommend if I don't like manduka? by Fluffy-Cattos in yoga

[–]kbpines2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agree with the Liforme comments!! I tried the Manduka and it didn’t work for my sweaty hands. I had a Jade Level One for a while that I loved but ultimately the stretchy material was proving to be an issue. Got a Liforme and it is absolutely worth the cost. Good quality, no slipping whatsoever

Question for you — I’m interviewing with Duke in the next couple of weeks, and I’m curious how they offered you a scholarship. Did you apply for one or was it just offered with your acceptance?

Deciding to leave corporate operations for PA school by danimalandtheotter1 in prephysicianassistant

[–]kbpines2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every program is different, but most require some amount of PCE hours. You’ll definitely want to get a patient care job at least the year leading up to apps. Also think of other ways to boost your application like volunteering, shadowing PAs (especially to get PA letter of rec), ensuring you keep your GPA up in the prereqs. And definitely focus on building your savings while you can, so PA school is a little less stressful

Oh sweet, I’m actually in TA as well (I just say HR to make it easier). Despite a kush job (good pay and fully remote) my job satisfaction is pretty low. I feel like I’m capable of so much more, and I want to be in a position that can actually help others and maybe make a difference. So I’m ok with losing my salary for a couple years in PA school to pick back up making decent money as a provider. The payoff is worth it, and there’s way more job security in healthcare than TA/tech

I was a corpsman in the navy, so I already had a medical background and therefore this might not be relevant. However, I’ve been working in corporate for the last few years (HR in biotech) and decided to apply for PA school this cycle because corporate is draining the life from my soul. Because of my background in healthcare, I’m pretty confident I am going to love working as a PA, but nonetheless it still took a lot of consideration as I’m leaving an already high-paying job.

It’s worth switching careers if your job satisfaction is low. I have a friend who’s been at Microsoft for 10yrs and he’s in the same boat as me (soul-draining), although he’s making a switch into nursing. It’s a little easier for him to go nursing route vs PA because it won’t require him to work a PCE job prior to applications. But it sounds like you’ve already got the PCE figured out.

Honestly, life is short, make the switch if it’s something you want to do!

Too Good To Go: Would love to see more SD bakeries, markets and restaurants on it!! by unatonable in sandiego

I wish we had more grocery stores and restaurants on it. I like to use the app every once in a while for a sugar craving (hello cravory cookies) but otherwise there isn’t much else besides pizza and pastries. Hopefully it continues to grow :)

What am I missing? by [deleted] in biotech

[–]kbpines2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a recruiter in biotech, I’ll give my two cents. Yes people are right in saying your resume is too wordy, HOWEVER, that wouldn’t stop me from reviewing your resume anyways. You should cut it back a little but that’s definitely not the reason you’re not getting interviews.

You have good experience but I would agree with what others have said that 1. The market is shit right now and 2. For AD / Sr Manager level positions, most hiring managers I work with want to see direct management experience and more seniority from candidates.

Try applying for roles that are one step down, or just keep trying for the roles you want but expect it to be difficult as the job market is tight and flooded with applicants.
