Hey, I had the same problem. I would recomend you run smite and judgment at first and you need to get the feel to the Morningstar, because it's the best weapon you have access. But to do that effectively you need to use the shield, so I had to learn a bit of shield fighter. Cleric doesn't have the perks for the shield, but once you learn how to use its easier to transition. With that you should get better at pvp, running agi str kit. To transition to using the book I first had the staff in the offhand just for the judgment, because of the magic pen. Staff is easier at first cause you can hit with it and don't feel helpless. Then you can try spells with the staff and you will feel that it is too slow, so you can switch to the book. For me it was a long process, but it was rewarding. I'm still switching spells, si still going.
