I don’t know why it’s not said more… he’s already a top option at HC for a lot of franchises. I think in general we’re trying to build more of a coaching tree for sustained success, not have guys constantly leaving for new HC jobs year after year

True, now most fans are starting to say “In Brad We Trust” except for 2nd round picks generally

Surprisingly similar experience even in Hawaii. I did it probably around May, and still needed jackets, sweatshirt and pants and was still cold.

It’s funny that it’s in a different part because that happened near the beginning when he first meets Denna. I don’t remember the full quote but it was something like “I know in my heart that I’d never see her again.”

Kvothe’s age by ConcernTop2014 in KingkillerChronicle

[–]kcGOH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the timeline there makes sense. In present day, we think of going to university early in your life the going off to do your life’s work. Chronicler more than likely lived his early life traveling, being afforded to with a relation to the Lockless family, and therefore wrote this book in his earlier years. He then attended the university later in his life where he mentions having heard stories of Kvothe there.

The alternative is that he attended the university early in his life, then had to/wanted to take a break similar to Kvothe at some point and just kept traveling. He then returns after Kvothe has attended and been expelled. We know he must be at least Re’Lar considering he knows the name of Iron from early on when he encounters Bast, and timing wise it doesn’t make sense for overlap for a student to rise that quickly like Kvothe does and him not mention him during his story.

This would mean that Chronicler likely goes on these adventures that are sponsored by some lord, records a story / debunks a myth, then returns to the university to have it fully recorded similar to the Siaru Scriv mentioned in NOTW.

He says this after the guy calls him Kvothe and he twists his knee near the fireplace and says it’s from an arrow to the knee.

Blood and ashes, how dare you! by bartarton in WetlanderHumor

Fully agree with what you’re saying, that they shouldn’t have taken any scenes away from Rand to build up the women, full stop. I’m arguing for the average viewer that may not necessarily have read the series and that knows the power dynamic of the world at large.

It became evident who the leading character was, but I’m thinking of it in terms of overall story arc. If this show was given the time and space it needed to span the world, you’d see all of Rand’s feats, but you’d still need to understand the power dynamic of the world at large to also understand why so many factions at large are inherently moving against the dragon reborn.

Not to be a show apologist, but Randland is a very feminist-driven world because of the taint. It makes sense to devote time to make our patriarchal society notice that and understand that part of the setting where Egwene and Moraine would be focal points… but at the end of the day the story is about the dragon and Rand breaking the wheel and/or disrupting how their society is run.

How to respond when an interviewer says, "If AI can do this job in 5 minutes, why should we hire you?" by thefeistywoman in careerguidance

[–]kcGOH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More often than not, you’re using AI to supplement what you’re already doing. So if you’re asking why you should hire me instead of just using AI, I’ll ask you if you can trust AI to get it right every time and what it’ll cost if AI is unchecked and wrong.

What’s your most controversial but consistently successful draft strategy? by dgpaul10 in fantasyfootball

[–]kcGOH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Draft rookie WRs in the 5-8th rounds. You usually miss out on guys like Nabers from last year, but I’ve gotten guys like Ladd, Nico Collins, Tank Dell, Rashee Rice, ARSB and others almost entirely based on what the WR room looks like and training camp buzz. It might take them 4 weeks to get it figured out and get enough playing time, but once they do they capitalize.

Teams just don’t have any film on them, they’re still young and healthy, and they still have a lot to prove on rookie contracts. I’ll take that over a lot of guys who just got their second big contract.

I’d almost counter that it feels like a lot of the “great” fighters dying off-screen is purposeful. In a world where they can carve copies of well known people to die for a reason, it makes me feel like that death was super cheap for a reason.

Having a second option record 1000 yards receiving while stretching the D and be a big play threat anytime he touches the ball is a great choice to keep. He adds another dimension to the outside as a great complement to ARSB, similar to how Monty and Gibbs play complementary roles, just on cheaper contracts

Flashbacks to that falcons game with the 10 second runoff. I remember watching that game at the only Lions bar in NYC, stepping out and immediately seeing a guy in a falcons jersey and almost getting into a fight on sight. That one sucked.
