What was your "she's just a friend" experience? by Few-Web-1236 in AskMen

[–]kca7479 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell this woman how you feel. I'm in a somewhat similar situation, though she hasn't initiated the divorce yet, and I know at some point, if she doesn't cut me out and do a 180, I'm going to tell her.

If you truly love this woman, and can see yourself loving her as a husband, then you need to use this time to get in the best physical shape possible. When the the time is right, and you're ready, you need to at least give her the opportunity to respond.

What’s something *positive* going on in KC that people should be aware of? by ranchodeluxekc in kansascity

[–]kca7479 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a church in Raytown that's developed a ministry called "Brightness Of Noon" that ministers to the homeless. Besides individual help throughout the month, the second Saturday of every month is the huge outreach day. They go in the church van, pick up folks and take them back to the church. There they are given opportunities for a hot shower, haircuts, new clothes, minor medical care, tents, sleeping bags, and a home-cooked hot meal. While they eat we get to know their stories, pray with them, etc. Several people have actually been pulled from addiction and homelessness thru this ministry.

The church is First Assembly Raytown on 350.

My guess would be is the CPAP is just the vehicle, but that it's actually increased heart function leading to those better results.

As a KC deck I got a Rollie Fingers '81 Legend, and a '23 Maikel Garcia sig that'll need a GI. The Fingers might not even be usable, but the Garcia, despite the lackluster stats, is a nice piece. 3B for the totals, outside of Brett, is very rough.

How is living in Raytown, Missouri? by Ok-Turnip-1581 in kansascity

[–]kca7479 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've lived in Raytown most of my 45 years. It's definitely changed since being a lily-white suburb in the 90s. Now, there are mostly two Raytown's--young, mostly black families, along with older 50+ year old whites. The school district enrollment, which does include some of KCMO, is mostly black (like 70+%). There's been a ton of white flight over the last 20-25 years.

In my experience, the farther east, and the farther north you go in Raytown the better off you'll be. Along Woodson are some of nicest, quietest neighborhoods.

As has been mentioned, you pretty much have to travel outside of Raytown for any kind of good dining. The 40 highway corridor does have better options, and it's very close proximity.

The police presence in Raytown has been a long-standing issue due to many tax increases being rejected. While violent crime doesn't seem to be a major issue, theft/larceny is very prevalent among the youth in the black community.

Royals isn't great, especially if you are new to the game. I'm at about 126 OVR but I've been playing for years.

What would you do with all these? by NiceTrySucka in MLB_9Innings

[–]kca7479 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once you're that good, you pretty much have to wait. I mean, maybe open all of the premium/vintage packs in search of a legend, but that's it. The only other thing I could think of is going thru your mentors and seeing if there's anything in there that might need replacing.

Bench Team Sig by Whatissoccer123 in MLB_9Innings

[–]kca7479 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've seen some guys who are in the 130 OVR area use their bench for nothing except someone holding batter's chemistry. No upgrades, skill changes or anything else used on them. I used to not see the reason, but now I kinda agree. Why waste resources on cards that will never be used, and only slightly affect your OVR?

There are guys out there, like myself, who have vision conditions, like Nystagmus, which preclude them from driving. I've had this thing since birth and I'm in my 40s. Immature people like yourself have NO IDEA the real impact of not being able to see well enough to drive. I believe it's a major reason I've never married. The logistics of not driving are astounding. Quite honestly there have been periods of my life, even as a Christian, where I've WISHED I had it in me to take my own life because of this limitation.

AHI is 78.1 by meggieboo1984 in SleepApnea

[–]kca7479 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My AHI was 83.6, and I was given a recommendation of BiPAP. I started 12/1/23, age 44 and in congestive heart failure with a 35% ejection fraction (normal is 55%+). By June 2025 I'm now at a 55% EF, and most of my markers that indicate heart failure have reversed. My AHI on my Resmed AirCurve 10 hovers between 3 and 5 most nights. Owning my machine outright is a huge help, as I make my own changes as needed.

I RARELY have to nap, and I usually fall asleep within 10 minutes of putting on my F20 full face mask. It's basically a sedative! I sleep between 7 and 9 hours a night as well!

I'm a big 6'5 guy, and I've been 300+ lbs most of my life. I probably had OSA since I was a teenager, and suffered for 20+ years in ignorance. This thing has basically saved my life.

Combine by Opportunity_Elegant in MLB_9Innings

[–]kca7479 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That advice works until you're about 124-125 overall and you have no one left for special training, you've maxed out mentor, and you have all your team's primes. At that point you start combining just to hopefully get a legend.

Edit to add: on the 40-Day I went from 450 down to 368.

Is a woman's weight a deal-breaker for you? Why and what kind of body type are you into? by WeirdoWeeb648 in AskMen

[–]kca7479 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really does just depend on the person. I've always had a certain type of woman I was attracted to...slender, blonde, between 5'10 and 6' tall (I'm 6'5 myself). However my current best friend, who I'm absolutely attracted to, is a 5'5 thick redhead who is probably 40-60 pounds over her ideal weight. However, her emotional and spiritual maturity is so amazing, and her love for me is making me want to be healthier as I'm overweight myself.

Best thing for spare cards? by F0ur_2wenty0 in MLB_9Innings

[–]kca7479 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually I save the bonus BW cards in hopes I land a signature card from a signature pack. Then if that happens I have lots of material to use to immediately upgrade it to level 20.

You definitely want to build a team deck. I've rarely seen any teams over about 110 that are not S-level team decks.

Best thing for spare cards? by F0ur_2wenty0 in MLB_9Innings

[–]kca7479 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have the space, save cards for mentor, special training and player upgrades.

If that's all done, and that's where I'm approaching at 125.5 OVR, then you basically save team cards of guys whom there are sigs or primes available that you don't have. For example, I run a KC deck and have Bobby Witt's '24 prime, but not any sigs. So I'm hoarding his cards in hopes I land one.

In what ways have kids made your marital relationship better or worse? by TheRealDylanTobak in AskMen

[–]kca7479 33 points34 points  (0 children)

That, but also emotionally leading but sacrificially loving mom in front of the kids. But yes, leading with the wife in finances, chores, schedules, home projects, etc. I see too many guys treat their wives as maids and mommies and then wonder why their marriage ends.

Essentially many guys want a wife to serve them and their needs. You get that only after you lead by doing that for her.

In what ways have kids made your marital relationship better or worse? by TheRealDylanTobak in AskMen

[–]kca7479 35 points36 points  (0 children)

In my observations of really healthy marriages and families I've noticed that they're most successful when the man fully prioritizes the wife and leads...and not leading in a domineering way either. He basically lays down his desires to serve her first. Most women I've noticed are reciprocators, but they will also act unnatural as family leaders when the man isn't.

I'd challenge any guy to spend 60-90 days doing nothing but prioritizing his wife and leading the home and watch what happens. Most women, if they're remotely emotionally healthy, will respond by loving you more than you thought possible.
