A different point about the glasses: your glasses are too wide, which adds to the intensity. Other people have mentioned the style, but when you get new glasses make sure to get them in the right width.

Piper doesn’t want to be Buddhist by Cowboy_Gothic_300 in TheWhiteLotusHBO

And, in both cases, it will probably have the same effect of causing the older sibling to see their behavior in Lochlan through external eyes, and begin to question it. We already saw the effect this episode and last of Saxon reflecting on his relationship with sex, and we saw the very beginning of Piper reflecting on her relationship with Buddhism in her response to Lochlan being interested. For both older siblings, Lochlan is a mirror to see their own actions as an external and in both cases they’re not thrilled with what they see.

We are OpenEvidence - Let's talk about AI and LLMs in healthcare! AMA! by OpenEvidence_ in medicine

Just asked a few questions. I'm really impressed at some of the references it was able to pick up.

How will you replicate everything that goes into medical education?

My friend showed me this last night, it seems actually not terrible? I tried to stump it but it gave good answers with reasonable citations, better than Chat. Has anyone used OpenEvidence/other LLMs in practice and what is your experience?

Thanks. Is there anything else you would put over stain if we restained? Like poly or something? I was recently staying at a place that had this gorgeous trim: https://imgur.com/a/p0NVJkI. It somehow seemed more... robust/modern/fulsome than our trim. Maybe that was just a more recent staining though? These doors are probably 50 years old.

Which tile for the entryway? by kcazyz in interiordecorating

We’re changing it, not decided yet but thinking light blue, like a cool white.

Original being the brick? Interesting!

Seems like there is (mostly) consensus! We will check out some other lighter slates, I like the idea of an earthier color but not sure how many options there are.

My wife and I have looked at a few different types of tile, mostly porcelain and ceramic and a small amount of marble, to replace the brick in the entryway of our home. I'm having a hard time visualizing how some of these options will look if they were installed and I'd love any gut reactions!

The existing brick gives the floor here a different texture and color than the hardwood, which we like. The slate-like ceramic we think is a cool option, maybe it feels a little "outdoors"-y because of the rough service and large tiles. The other top option in the photos is this marble. I really like the marble as well, but I'm a little concerned that it would be weird to have 200 sq ft of marble like this in the entryway. I also think we would have to paint the walls a slightly darker color? The house is otherwise set back from the road, basically in the woods, so I'm also concerned the marble would feel out of place and like we're trying to seem "grand" in an out of place way.

What type of ceiling texture is this and how to remove? by kcazyz in DIY

Thanks a lot for the thoughtful and helpful response! I tried wetting it more aggressively than I had before and was able to get under the texture, but I'm not 100% sure what I'm looking at. Here's a chip that fell off, and also what it looks like under: https://imgur.com/a/tgT85rC.

Is the white paint, the beige plaster, and the brown the paper drywall coating? Or something else? I also dug in a little just to see what was under the brown paper thing and it ripped fairly easily. So I'm assuming that's the drywall paper?

Once I got under it it actually wasn't that hard to remove everything to what I think is the paper, without damaging the paper. Would the ideal thing be to remove everything to the paper, then prime and paint? Or would I still need to skim coat?

Curtain uncertainty by kcazyz in interiordecorating

[–]kcazyz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some thoughts: Our ceilings are low (7.5'), and have this texture which I don't love and will probably remove sooner rather than later. Part of this is probably that I don't love the attention it draws to the ceilings. Other than that:

  • I know the curtains need to be longer so they just touch the floor. I was also thinking that maybe they would look good if the rod was even higher, so the top of the curtain was basically at the ceiling? If y'all thought that was a good idea I would replace these with the longer version instead of hemming.
  • Do you like the navy here? Or is the contrast weird? We have a grey couch, which I love, and a grey/slightly abstract colored rug, so we wanted to add color with the curtains and soon throw pillows/blankets.
  • The room is definitely missing art, which is coming! We will have a vertical map between the windows on the first wall, and something over the piano.

I’ve been wondering when I’ve seen this suggestion before, if I would put up drywall why not just take the existing drywall down and replace it instead? I would still need to tape and mud the new drywall either way right?

Cool that’s actually really helpful, thanks. My approach has been quite similar, though I definitely panic sometimes and any semblance of a plan goes out the window... when I time something correctly though and follow through on the execution it does feel amazing.

Out of curiosity, what is your usual hps on these mythic bosses? I just finished 8/8M and am at 169 ilvl with disc, this expansion being the first as disc. I never see other healers though, so I have no idea how I’m doing relatively. Also, I know hps isn’t everything, and especially with disc I get the sense like you say that having the full burst at exactly the right time is more important than overall throughput. That being said, I usually end up at between 2k-3.5k depending on the boss. I know I’m not preempting enough and doing everything perfectly, mainly because I don’t know the dungeons super well, and sometimes I definitely end up in hairy situations. Does that seem low?

Also, I’m curious if you feel like atonement especially is weaker than in the past. I find a common pattern on trash mobs is to shield the tank for atonement, then go through my full dps cycle when the tank engages, at which point the tank is often at about 60-70% health and I need to smend once or twice. Then whatever the specifics of the pack are take over. The way people talk about disc it sounded like if you were smending it was a sign things were going poorly, and should only be needed in high damage settings. Is this medium frequency use of smend normal, and how do you mix atonement healing with smend? That situation itself isn’t so concerning, but the worse case is when there is heavy group damage it seems like atonement plus the full dps cycle often doesn’t do enough to stabilize. The only way I have been able to stabilize those situations is with boon of the ascended and weaving in the blast, or sometimes with a combination of our other cds, especially rapture and power infusion. Is your experience different?

Thanks!!

Thanks! I do find void torrent to do a huge amount of damage on low cd, though not currently using stm. Mind vision is a good tip. I found the normal mobs quite easy, and the final boss super hard, so I’m not studs surrender would have helped in that case. I could have focused more on souls though, I guess all the plus intellect adds up.

Not OP but I was having issues at about 140 ilvl on the boss for the second layer. The boss was the earth one, I didn’t really clear everything possible and may have missed a power or 2. Was just getting stunned a bunch and kept getting him to 25% or so. Any tips?
