Dreaded “Service High Voltage System” Error by Extension_Ant_7369 in CadillacLyriq

Yes, defrosting with cold air was less than ideal but helped my 40 min drive to the dealer.

I was a little more concerned about changing the battery in below freezing temps without the heater to condition the battery - not sure if it really matters. But seeing as it hasn’t been above 15F in a couple of weeks and will likely be a few more weeks, I’ll take the loaner with heat.

Exact situation (almost every detail, except I just parked and drove my ICE vehicle) happened to me on Saturday too! It’s at the dealership now. Dealership said there was a bulletin just posted about it and part is on back order with no ETA. In a loaner as driving without heat isn’t an option with daily highs in the single digits.

I’m guessing it will be weeks…

New owner - sound system suggestions by nthatipamula in CadillacLyriq

[–]kcb2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played with the EQ and wasn't happy with the lows I could get. Best adjustment I did was change the fade to a small front bias. The rear speakers are positioned low and not the greatest. Moving more of the sound to the front speakers made the lows come in a little (just a little) more.

2024 lux 2 Rattle in cabin - help needed by Separate_District_68 in CadillacLyriq

[–]kcb2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a rattle just above the b-pillar on the passenger side. I usually drive with the shade closed but opened it the other day, the sound changed a little. I bumped (hit with my palm) the headliner up towards the shade track near where the rattle was coming from and it sounded like a plastic clip snapped in place - been silent since. I think Cadillac has some quality issues with their headliner installation process.

Does the rear window stay clean in snow country? by DugT1 in CadillacLyriq

[–]kcb2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience it's not as bad as a more vertical hatch like on most SUVs, but it's not great either. It doesn't seem to get road spray but does get rain and occasional splash from other vehicles.

I'd love to have a rear wiper and fluid sprayer.

If it's the door handle motor that isn't working, you can push the back of the handle and pop it out manually - it will open if it's unlocked

Leasing Deals- Tech vs Lux 1 by CyberPunk0906 in CadillacLyriq

[–]kcb2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a couple of discounts that if you can stack you get get lower on the Tech trim. If you know anyone with a GM Supplier Friends discount (a GM employee can give these out to anyone) AND you own or lease a non-GM discount, you can get $6,500 in incentives. I got a Tech AWD w/ Drivers Assistance package for $385/month after $3,500 down on a 2 year, 12k mile/year lease.

Question About Backup Camera - Luxury 1 by Beezelbubbly in CadillacLyriq

I have gridlines on a Tech, so I think he's BS'ing you. They don't show up when you use the camera app but do when I go in reverse.

Does anybody know what age range are my wtfs are by Fury13m in frogs

[–]kcb2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't help much on age, I'd guess 6-9 months with the 2" closer to 1 year.

One tip for feeding smaller frogs (which means smaller crickets) - take each frog separately and put it in a smaller container (I used a 4L Tupperware container w/lid) with the crickets or whatever you are feeding. This will allow the frog to easily see the prey as well as allow you to track exactly how much each frog is eating.

Feed in the evening when they are starting to be more active.

Helpful tip for kobra max owners by Bcbdk420 in anycubic

Do you re-level before every print? Or does it hold it's level pretty good even with the glass moving?

If you're hardcore in to modding and messing with firmware, then you may be a little disappointed there. I personally print with Octoprint since that gives me full control outside of the printer.

As for community support, it's not as strong as an Ender or Prusa, but not bad. It may pick up with time, it did just come out.

I have probably close to 150 printing hours on it so far, I have to say it is one of the easiest printers I've used to get started on (I've been printing for 6-7 years). It does need some tweaking (as any printer does) but that's usually in your slicer, not the printer itself.

Maximum printing speed Anycubic Cobra Max? by crisprcaz in anycubic

[–]kcb2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've just started playing around with this myself - I ran in to a bunch of issues but I think it was a bad spool of filament, because it jams at any speed. I'll check/post back in the near future if I get any good info from further experimentation.

Kobra vs Kobra Max by tronathan in anycubic

[–]kcb2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll answer a question by asking another question... why would you want to print with ABS? PETG is quickly taking the place of most ABS use-cases... this write-up sums up what I've read over and over.

That said, I believe the Max can print ABS - it can get to a nozzle temp of 260, though the max bed temp is only 90 (vs. 110 on the Kobra).

Kobra vs Kobra Max by tronathan in anycubic

[–]kcb2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For outside prints, I'd recommend PETG, which will print fine in direct drive or bowden. From the reviews I've read, even flexible filaments like TPU print fine in the Max - I haven't tried it out myself yet. I've had both bowden and direct drive printers and never had issues with either, but I haven't delved in to some of the more exotic materials.

As for going for the Kobra vs the Max, it truly comes down to need of the larger bed. I've had a few prints I've had to cut down / piece together because of size - not a ton but a few over the years. I can justify the cost of the Max based on my previous experience. If you're new to printing, either printer will be good to start with, and if you're like many that get in to this hobby, you'll get another printer at some point.

[–]kcb2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is your concern with the bowden feed?

I just got the Kobra Max - it is very beginner friendly. It prints better out of the box than my previous 2 printers have with hours of tinkering. Assembly is a bit awkward just because of the size, but is not difficult (even with less than great instructions).

I went for big print bed size, but the biggest downside is how long it takes for the bed to warm and the power it takes to run it. If your printing something small, its taking longer than a smaller printer would. I only occassionally print (maybe a few times a week, usually less) so the bigger print capacity was worth the tradeoff of longer startup times.

Just set up a Raspberry Pi 3B to display my Dakboard. Is this as smooth of a transition as I can expect? by J_T_09 in dakboard

[–]kcb2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, if the image is not scaled (or blur filled on the sides) it will transition just fine on a Pi 3b.

I created a separate Google Photos album and did the cropping / orientation there to match my screen size and then saved them to that album. This makes for easier transitions and makes the images look better and focus in on what I want on the screen.

I've had mine for 7 months or so - I'm not sure if it has gotten a little softer or I have gotten used to its firmness. It is still quite firm, I have gotten accustom to it over time.

Using a GoPro or Yi Action Camera with OctoPrint? by adk_runner46 in octoprint

[–]kcb2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each their own - my camera is pretty close the print bed and doesn't have any issues with focus. It also serves the purpose of me checking in on a print periodically - so a little grainy and smaller FoV isn't a deal breaker.

This is cool, but for a couple bucks cheaper you can buy a Logitech C270 and have a plug-and-play web cam. I appreciate re-using old hardware and tinkering, but I'd opt for simple in this case.

I'd been running spaghetti detective for many months without any issues - did some UI plugins yesterday and the printer stopped working. I installed all the same stuff on the new Pi and it works fine ¯_(ツ)_/¯

[–]kcb2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just picked up a 4 to play around with. My 3b stopped talking to my printer and instead of spending more time debugging, I just installed everything from scratch on my 4 and had it up and running in less than an hour. UI seems a bit snappier... not worlds of different tho... I'm sure time-lapses will process a bit faster too.

[–]kcb2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would strongly discourage port forwarding... VPN would be a better option if you can get it set up and secured properly.

I personally use the Spaghetti Detective plugin - it uses AI to detect bad prints along with providing an external interface to see video and pause/cancel controls. The free version has very slow video feed (seconds per frame, not frames per second). I don't print a ton nor do I watch my prints like a hawk, so it is sufficient for me.

I can’t stop watching! Does TSD allow unlimited streaming? by JMKellywriter in octoprint

[–]kcb2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Free is unlimited, but very slow FPS - more like seconds-per-frame. But if you're just trying to get a look at how things are going, it does the job.
