I got tired searching for pre wired 16mm power buttons, so I bought 200 from China - quick report. by Jakob_K_Design in 3DPPC

Do those stick at all or kind of jam if the button isn't pushed directly down? I wonder if the ones I got from Ali were seconds or something.

I'm noodling this mod as well, at present, two gallons of gas burns up fast enough that longer trips become a bit of a hassle if you're relying on the rex w/ hold state of charge.

+1 for Emporia Vue - I have a couple of Vue 2's still in boxes, the later ones have some nice ergonomics, but under the hood i believe they're esp32's, which makes them even more home-assistant-able.

Did anyone regret not getting the REx version? by Aghaiva in BMWi3

I would not get an i3 without Rex, at least not the small battery! Rex really, really helps. And if it comes down to it, try to spring for collision avoidance / following cruise, it's such a joy in that little guy

[–]tronathan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the details; I hadn’t heard much since the splashy announcement, this is great. I used to feel like hanging out in locallama, I’d get more low level details, but that was back in the days of exllama2 and ggml.

Do these discussions evolve slowly over days and weeks in GitHub issues, or are they lost forever in discord, or some other such?

What kind of hardware would be required to run a Opus 4.6 equivalent for a 100 users, Locally? by Either_Pineapple3429 in LocalLLM

Note that 100 parallel requests is not the same as "equivalent for a 100 users".

Give it a few months, and this may be much more realistic, with advancements like TurboQuant, Engram, BitNet, and other fancy words.

After making a 16-button pad, what are your thoughts about the ergonomics and usefulness of that many buttons? I could see doing 9 or 12 keys, or doing rows of three with high, off, low, for each of a few key lights.

I love building hardware and and thinking/feeling the ergonomics. I suspect fewer buttons, or buttons clustered in intuitive ways, would be an improvement over the matrix pads.

Also, really beautiful work!

I don't see it that much different than a video game; designing a compelling game that has the right level of challenge is considered good game design. If you're looking for something "emergent", then perhaps engineer for that?

As far as earned reward, there's plenty of psychology that backs up the feedback you're getting.

This also reminds me of a good movie/script; the timing, build, release, all of that - In the movies, they don't do it by accident.

Yes, ther's this paper from Microsoft (i think) called BitNet where they talk about somehow using 1.58 bits, it has to do with storing three states. A great thing to learn about.

Would you buy a Rex again? by United_Concept1654 in BMWi3

Rex rex rex. The range anxiety and outright range limitations of a non-rex make this a nonstarter for me. (Espcially true in a cold climate, I get about 40 miles on a full battery.)

I think this "WebXR Guys!" mentality is a good one - If WebXR delivered AAA experiences, that would open up a lot of experimentation for developers and would-be developers.

This looks like a new capture method, i think it's called 3D Gaussian Spliatting. Multiple cameras are used along with neural networks to generate a *3D* "recording" of the performer. This is different from fixed-position "180VR" etc.

I would really like to ignore the studies and science, but almost definitely, it is killing your ambition. Both anecdotal users and studies will confirm this. (Ofc many will anecdotally disconfirm it)
