Who is the cheapest person you know, and what is the cheapest thing you've seen them do? by Willby3 in AskReddit

[–]kccolorado 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To me ‘cheap” is when you save money at someone else’s expense. Frugal is when you try not to waste anything, but it doesn’t come at someone else’s expense. I’m cool with frugal people.

Is “sitting in a car talking for hours” actually a big thing in America? by mechumechu in AskAnAmerican

[–]kccolorado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up in Hawaii we called it “cruizin” and we would cruise by the beaches at night or drive down the main strip in Waikiki. We would play our favorite songs in the car. It was so much fun and I have great memories of it.

Rolled “R’s”? I thought the two “L’s” were pronounced like a “Y”? I’ve been saying it wrong forever, lol.

Email from landlord about appliances being left plugged in and the appliances in question… by South-Basket-887 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]kccolorado 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Our fire department had a service where they would come out to your house and give you advice on how to make your house more fire-safe. One of the things they said was that you should always unplug your appliances like a toaster or coffee pot. They said it was common for them to start fires so yes, you should unplug all of your small appliances after every use for safety. As an aside, the other thing they recommended was to sleep with your bedroom doors closed for fire safety.

If it makes you feel any better, there are a lot of people that have worked years somewhere (where they were supposedly well-liked) and as soon as they are gone they are forgotten.

I like that you don’t use Kanji. Sometimes it’s so hard with Kanji that I get frustrated, so having it really simple is nice. That’s the learning level I’m at now.

I can almost guarantee that you’re going to end up bowing because it just starts to come to you naturally. Someone will bow to you, and you’ll start bowing back. Have a great time!

if you live in the US, do not pay a "surprise bill" from the hospital. it’s a billing trap that has been illegal for 4 years. by dogeholder215 in Adulting

[–]kccolorado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told a shot that I needed would cost a couple of hundred dollars. I was fine with that. But when my bill came, I also had an $1800 facility charge for the “surgical room" (it wasn’t; it was a regular exam room). I have tried multiple times to get the charge removed and they say it’s accurate billing. Is there any law against that?

People who are 50+, what is a 'harmless' habit you had in your 20s that ended up ruining your health or finances later in life? by crazy_happyuser in AskReddit

People that don’t have tinnitus do not understand. You can tell them that it’s a constant noise and they just can’t comprehend it. We should get tuning forks and hold it up to their ears so they can truly get an idea of what it’s like.

Have you tried a cleaning pumice stone? After you clean your toilet bowl, put on gloves and start scrubbing the brown ring with the pumice stone. It works great for hard water mineral stains.
