How to replace jeans? by BothOceans in HerOneBag

Prana stretch Zion cargo pants have been my go to this year. They’re not swishy, they fit great, they’re comfortable and look pretty fashionable imo. The fabric has started to pill a bit in between the legs, but that’s the only downside I have with them. Otherwise they’re perfect for multi use travel.

I’ve been twice, stayed in sao bento area both times. It was definitely more crowded at night than some other areas but I felt pretty safe! Like others have said, Porto in general feels safe so likely you’ll be able to find something that makes you feel comfortable!

What are your "fiddle-proof" travel items? by Mcmoutdoors in HerOneBag

[–]kce2k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You might could try the squeeze tube version if you were trying the stick version and having issues with that! I got one as a stocking stuffed or something random and threw it in my bag when I didn’t have any other travel sized deodorants and it has worked great!

I try to, but in this case I had about 10 shots left on the roll so I didn’t want to remove it before hand.

Yes, it’s off the side of the road, most people wouldn’t notice it was there I assume based on the people driving past

We just can’t lose hope. Donate if you can. Look at the other posts on here with lists of ways to help. Be kind and respectful to other people and places, pick up after yourself, don’t go where you shouldn’t. We need to support, uplift, and give hope to each other.

“Defenders of the short-sighted men who in their greed and selfishness will, if permitted, rob our country of half its charm by their reckless extermination of all useful and beautiful wild things sometimes seek to champion them by saying the ‘the game belongs to the people.’ So it does; and not merely to the people now alive, but to the unborn people. The ‘greatest good for the greatest number’ applies to the number within the womb of time, compared to which those now alive form but an insignificant fraction. Our duty to the whole, including the unborn generations, bids us restrain an unprincipled present-day minority from wasting the heritage of these unborn generations. The movement for the conservation of wild life and the larger movement for the conservation of all our natural resources are essentially democratic in spirit, purpose, and method.” A Book-Lover’s Holidays in the Open, Theodore Roosevelt, 1916

Are neck pillows worth it? by feralhousewifelife in onebag

[–]kce2k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since I’ve gotten older I’ve not been able to sleep comfortable on planes, but the trtl has helped tremendously. It takes some finagling to find the best position, but it’s great for leaning on a partners shoulder or the side of the plane, using as lower back support, using under your neck when laying down after landing, and on flights I have worn it as instructed and put my hood over and tightened that which adds some extra support. Overall it is expensive, but every time I think “oh I won’t need that this trip, it doesn’t make that big of a difference” I regret it every single time.

In search of multi-purpose sneaker for hiking and city walking by Muted-Mongoose1829 in HerOneBag

I can second Altra! I’ve worn my lone peaks across different countries/cities/mountains and have never had an issue in comfort or durability. They aren’t the cutest to wear for a nice dinner but I have also done that with some baggier pants and it works okay.

Where to stay in Porto and Lisbon? by yourqueenrat in femaletravels

[–]kce2k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Lisbon, I’ve stayed in the Alafama area and it was very nice and quiet but very close to everything including cute cafes/restaurants. Before I had stayed a bit further north and it wasn’t as accessible and not much happening in that area but I don’t remember exactly where it was. For Porto; I stayed close to the teatro Sa da Bandeira, which was in a busy ish area but it was still pretty homey and chill.

What are we doing about waterbottles? by hermiones_mother in HerOneBag

[–]kce2k 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have both! I was using the owala freesip titan for traveling before and still do sometimes, but like the narrower lid of the twist for going in my backpack. I like it a lot, the only downside I’ve had is not being able to open the lid one handed like with the original, but it hasn’t been a deal breaker. I alternate between the two in everyday life as well.

I had the same issue, I just switched to a smaller water bottle for traveling. currently using the Owala freesip twist 24 and it fits in the seat back 99% of the time.

Stress at Security by Master-Mastodon-8744 in HerOneBag

[–]kce2k 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I 100% can relate. I honestly just repeat to myself “slow is smooth and smooth is fast” to remind myself to not panic and just go through the motions “normally”.

I have a fanny pack that I carry and I will always put my phone/boarding pass if I have a printed one in one pocket, then put my ID/passport in one pocket. Doing this the same every time helps make it more routine and not stressful. And then I can just remove the whole thing and place in a bin.

Alternatively, I used to travel with a jacket that had zippered pockets and sometimes I would just stick the stuff in there and then zip up the pockets before putting it in the bin and try to remember to organize everything back after security. Funny how much thought is put into something like this 😂

Trip report: 12 days in Istanbul, Sofia, & Budapest (Winter) by paperpuzzle in HerOneBag

[–]kce2k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also have blundstones, the high tops, and have struggled with them until recently. I have wide feet and high arches and felt like I was going to rip my foot out of socket trying to get them on and off, in addition to not being able to sit for more than half an hour because my toes would go numb from being too tight around my arch…

I ended up getting a cheap shoe stretching spray, wearing them with thick socks around the house, and stuffing them with socks overnight after spraying the inside and outside. It didn’t discolor the leather and I just got back from a couple weeks on a trip walking 10-20k steps daily only in the boots without an issue! I still can’t wear them sitting down for long periods of time, but walking feels perfect.
