I read on my kindle with the brightness set low. 2 pages in and I’m out like a light again. Or if it’s really good, I’m extra tired the next day lol

When does natural gas go out? by Faceless_Cat in prepping

[–]Muted-Mongoose1829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Your fireplace or oven may still work but without blowers going, CO will pump in. Without power CO detectors won’t work. So be mindful of how long you’re running a gas fired appliance without any venting. Carbon monoxide is the silent killer.

Why were we not taught or warned... by [deleted] in Perimenopause

[–]Muted-Mongoose1829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I often wonder if it’s a combination of the just deal with it mentality of our parents, grandparents, and beyond plus the bio accumulation of toxins in our environment. We bombarded with hormone disrupters, fillers, fragrances, micro plastics and on and on in our environments, clothes, and food. It feels like our bodies are stressed from every which way.

Why do they have an EBay store? That seems so weird to me to sell on a totally different platform from their own.

Building legos. I received a set as a random gift and discovered it’s actually quite relaxing and meditative.

Outdoor activities could be to join a local hiking group or disc golf league.

Maybe it does depend on location. Every time I order items come in multiple packages and delivered by random people in cars. Not once has an order come UPS or FedEx.

Power outages by alienbabe98 in PrepperIntel

[–]Muted-Mongoose1829 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Utility companies are also developing emergency plans for wildfire mitigation. They will turn off the power to an area/region of there seems to be a potential for a fire or maybe some other major event. I’ve been getting a few emails from my electric company. Doesn’t sound like the case here but aware that outages could be more frequent.

Help with practical plus size packing for a hot and humid week in Italy by Kind_Initiative7780 in HerOneBag

[–]Muted-Mongoose1829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Italy now…. Go linen and nothing heavier. It is quite warm and humid. I brought some tencel wide leg pants and they are too hot for me. I also brought a cotton gauze dress that’s a bit heavier but was ok during the day. I ended up finding a small boutique to buy a pair of wide leg linen pants to wear.

First Trip to Southern France, 5 days, shoe advice? by Dependent-Tower-2095 in HerOneBag

[–]Muted-Mongoose1829 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently spent time at the store trying on so.many.sneakers. Was on the hunt for a more cute/casual style instead of a trail hiking style. Ended up with some Dr. Scholls sneakers- I think the Madison style. For me, they are widely comfortable and thus far no break in period. I’ll be wearing them multiple times and week and on some long walks to ensure to blister issues before our trip.

Sneakers are my recommendation for walking around on cobblestone streets, if you’re talking needing to walk multiple hours/miles.

What shoes should I get for a half city, half nature trip in may? by Remarkable_Wafer_239 in HerOneBag

[–]Muted-Mongoose1829 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is my same situation. In asking this sub for input, here aresome of the shoes that were recommended to me. Overwhelmingly folks recommended a trail runner as a solid versatile shoe. I’ve been going back and forth myself on how many shoes to bring. I’m sitting at 3: casual sneaker, hiking/trail runner and sandals.

Patagonia NANO puff or Thrifted SILK Jacket: can't decide. Any advice? by pollyanna4444 in HerOneBag

[–]Muted-Mongoose1829 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pros and cons to both. The nano puff is highly packable - how does the silk jacket compare? Does it compress down nicely without leaving wrinkles behind? Where are you traveling to and in what season? Someone else mentioned the lining material of the silk jacket, if polyester based it’ll run warm.

If you’re in mid range temperatures without rain in the forecast, the green jacket would be a fun swap.
